In the Yoruba tradition, a pataki (plural: patakís) is a sacred oral narrative, legend, or myth that serves as a crucial tool for spiritual wisdom, cultural preservation, and practical guidance, especially within the Ifá divination system and the Santería faith. These stories, often told in an artful style, explain the origins of the world, the actions of deities (Orishas) in human form, and the relationships between them, offering insights into moral lessons, life's challenges, and ritual practices.
