Early Trailblazers:
* Mamie Phipps Clark: First Black woman to earn a doctorate in psychology (Columbia). Conducted research on racial bias in children.
* Bebe Moore Campbell: Advocate for mental health awareness in Black communities. Founded NAMI-Inglewood to provide culturally competent services.
Leaders of Today:
* Dr. Joy Harden Bradford: Public health expert and psychiatrist. Focuses on the mental health of Black mothers and children. Founder of Therapy for Black Girls.Â
* Dr. Alfiee Breland-Noble: Clinical psychologist and author. Champion for culturally responsive therapy for Black women.
* Dr. Thema Bryant: Psychiatrist and reality TV personality. Uses her media platform to normalize mental health discussions in Black communities.
