Golisano Children's Hospital Strong Pediatric Practice GCH Pediatric Practice Mission: To provide comprehensive whole child, patient-centered care.

A special thanks goes out to Ambulatory Peds Practice nurse Paige Woodworth, who recently engaged in an effort to work with caregivers in our AC6 clinic to educate patient families on the safest ways to carry infants using car seats.

Car seat safety is incredibly important in all settings. In addition to helping patients understand the best ways to carry their children using car seats, we also work with the The Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Rochester to provide free car seat safety checks at GCH on the last Wednesday of every month. To make an appointment, please contact Erin Agnello, senior project coordinator at the Injury Free Coalition, at (585) 471-1014 or [email protected] to schedule.

When a person is diagnosed with colorectal cancer, a key first step is to identify the unique molecular properties of their tumor. That helps to determine the correct treatment and how aggressive the cancer is likely to behave. Thanks to a Wilmot team for discovering a new, simpler way to classify colon cancers using RNA biology.

The research came from the lab of Wilmot Deputy Directory Hucky Land, PhD, and much of the work is credited to Aslihan Ambeskovic, PhD, the lead bioinformatics analyst in the lab.

The next step: developing a test suitable for the clinic.

Golisano Children’s Hospital Pediatric Practice

The Pediatric Practice at Golisano Children’s Hospital is the largest pediatric primary care practice in the greater Rochester area, as well as the largest site for interdisciplinary primary care teaching / training in the region. The Pediatric Practice is certified as a Primary Care Medical Home and is designated as a “safety net” practice within the UR system (i.e., all are welcome, none is denied care).
