History and Demographics

In 1995, Drs. Jay Ellie and Frank Edwards developed an emergency department staffing model that focused on meeting healthcare delivery needs of small community hospitals in western New York. Both practitioners recognized the growing gap between available services from larger staffing vendors and smaller community hospitals. At its inception, these two providers worked to craft cost effective staffing solutions. Emphasis on program development to fit unique organizational needs contributed to hospital administrators quickly and very publicly acknowledging multiple advantages of partnering with Delphi Healthcare.

As emergency department programming evolved and matured, Delphi leadership realized the added value a hospitalist care model would contribute to the corporate mission. In 2008, Delphi began providing hospitalist services and was quickly adopted within many of the hospitals already served. The integration of Delphi Hospitalist Services to Delphi Healthcare yielded positive results; the two professional groups worked seamlessly within partner hospitals to provide quality patient care, fostered within an atmosphere of professional collaboration and teamwork. In response to the expressed needs of hospital administrative teams, anesthesia services were incorporated in 2018 under Delphi Healthcare. This program has quickly gained momentum, providing quality anesthesia care in a variety of healthcare settings.

Delphi leadership continues to pace growth in order to maintain focus and adherence to the provision of quality healthcare. As a result of that discipline, Delphi has realized steady growth over the past decade throughout New York State; continuing to grow with partner hospitals at a steady and manageable pace.
