What is breathwork and what can it do for my health?

As wellness enthusiasts, this is a question we receive a lot — and we’re happy to give you an answer!

Simply put, breathwork is like a workout for your nervous system. It is an active meditation practice that allows you to disconnect from your mind and let your body guide you.

Breathwork focuses on changing how you breathe so that you can breathe properly. By practicing it consistently, you can learn to regulate your autonomic nervous system, reduce stress, and improve your confidence.

While everyone can benefit from breathwork, here are some questions to ask yourself when you’re deciding if it’s best for you:

What do I want to gain from my wellness practice?

What is the difference between breathwork and meditation, and which one is right for me?
In truth, the two are very similar: both are mindfulness practices, and both promote benefits to the body and mind.

Meditation is a mental practice focused on cultivating awareness, mindfulness, and relaxation. It often involves focusing on a specific object, thought, or activity to train attention and achieve mental clarity.

Breathwork, on the other hand, is the conscious control of breathing patterns. It emphasizes using the breath to influence physical, mental, and emotional states, often in a rhythmic or guided manner.
