I've watched this week over a dozen times thru the years. Absolute FIRE!
The original studio version (electric and harder) is great, too, but this has great energy and connection......
Yes, that's jack white

DAY 2: Sunflower Cat by Bruce Hornsby.

Original studio version came out in 1998. Bruce was a huge inspiration in my playing and approach. I have lots of stories involving him. But we will start basic with this.
Bruce played as a temp member of the Grateful Dead from 1990-1992.
Known for his pop hits like The Way It Is, Mandolin Rain, etc. But has a big jazz background.

Anyways..... this song takes the riff from a Grateful Dead song (Chinacat Sunflower) and made it a new tune (link to Dead version in comments).
This live version flows into Dylan's Takes a Lot To Laugh, a Train to Cry. (Another favorite song of mine)

WELCOME!
As it's my birthday today - I thought it was finally time to start this (I created this page a few years ago).
This is my chance to play DJ with a song per day. (most likely videos, but other files may pop up.... especially if my music).
These are ones that mean a lot to me, unique, fit a theme, or something else. And I'll usually tell a little about it and why it's here.

Feel free to comment at any time.

DAY 1: SEVEN STORY MOUNTAIN by Railroad Earth.
A great inspirational song. A little on the long side, but worth it
Gets me through tough days.
There is a book of the same name which is in my To Be Read pile..... maybe this year.
I also used to play this song fairly regularly 10-20 years ago.
I'm more into the band now then I was then.
*first saw them live around 2021 at Red Rocks Amphitheater with Greensky Bluegrass.

Sample of some of the lyrics:
Oh lord, to see a light, but fail in strength to follow. Sometimes it's hard to let it go

It's a seven-story mountain.
It's a long, long life we live.
Got to find a light and fill my heart again.

It's a seven-story mountain.
It's a long, long life ahead.
Got to find a voice and fill my throat again.
