Thinking of everyone across multiple agencies that has been impacted by the loss of Mark Porter. Truly a testament of how many people’s lives he touched. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of our former colleague and friend, Mark Porter.

Mark was a dedicated member of our communications center for over thirty years, and his calm presence and professionalism were a steadying force for all who worked with him. He retired in 2023 after a long and meaningful career marked by commitment, reliability, and compassion.

We will share details regarding any services or memorials as they become available. In the meantime, please take a moment to remember Mark and keep his family in your thoughts.

Now, more than ever, mental health support is essential. With so many demands on our time and budgets it can feel impossible to prioritize therapy. We are committed to making therapy accessible without comprising quality by offering low cost sessions that also support a bigger cause of combating the nationwide shortage of mental health providers. We have welcomed two masters level interns to our team. They are in their final stages of their education. By working with them, you’re not only receiving affordable therapy ($25 a session) you’re also helping to support the next generation of mental health professionals. Happy to be back at the Employee Health Fair for the second year! It’s always a fun event and gives everyone the opportunity to touch base in a more relaxed setting. Our hope is that when people do need to reach out for help, just being able to put a face to the name will be one less barrier. We appreciate CHS for having us out!

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Brian Obark. A huge loss to the EMS community both personally and professionally. Our thoughts are with his family and all who are sharing in this loss today.

We regret to announce that Lieutenant Brian Obark passed away earlier this morning following an illness.

Lieutenant Obark briefly joined Perinton Ambulance as an EMT in the early 2000s, then returned as a full-time Paramedic in late 2021. He quickly demonstrated a leadership capacity well-suited for his promotion to Lieutenant a few months later. Earlier this year, his illness forced him to step away from active duty, but he hoped to return this fall.

Known throughout the region as an excellent caregiver – and an even better friend – Lieutenant Obark’s passing leaves his family, friends, and the entire local EMS community, in mourning. Please keep all of them in your thoughts as they navigate this difficult time
