How well do you sleep?

Do you find it difficult to get a good night's sleep? Do you find it hard to believe that Feng Shui could help you get a better night's sleep?

A few basic steps you can take to help you sleep better are: keeping your room clutter free, setting your room up for rest and relaxation (no gym equipment or your office desk sharing space) and being very careful with your artwork. If you find you need to share your bedroom space so you can have an office, then partitioning off the office space will be helpful.

There are numerous things you can do to your surroundings to make sleep less elusive and much more restorative. I have written quite a bit about it on my blog, which you can access here: https://catherinedeanfengshui.com/feng-shui-sleep/

When you're dealing with a persistent issue and find that you get stuck when trying to address it, remember about the helpful benefits of Feng Shui. Are you looking to boost your earning ability? Strengthen your special relationships? Or are you looking to just have an overall sense of wellbeing, balance and harmony? Feng Shui doesn't just address how well you sleep, but many other areas of life as well.

How about a Mid-Week Energy Reset?

You're more than half way through the work week! But, are you feeling sluggish, unmotivated, uninspired?

Then it's definitely time to do an Energy Reset.

It doesn't have to be complicated. Take a look at your desk. Are there any items sitting there that are taking up space that don't need to be there? Is your desk lacking a little something? Maybe a plant? Or does it need just need a quick reorg and a dust cloth?

Can you get a sense of the energy in your workspace? Is it stale? Open a window! If that's not possible, take a 10 minute walk on your lunch break. If you can't bring the outdoors in, then take yourself outside!

If the energy around your desk or office feels sluggish, you can clear the space just by clapping your hands. I understand that is not always feasible, but if you find yourself alone in the space, go ahead and clap away. And pay close attention to the corners too. Corners have a way of attracting stale, negative energy.

Wednesdays are a good day for a mid-week energy reset and there are other things you can do as well. You can reset your energy before or after work at home with your own choice of self-care. Taking good care of yourself is good Feng Shui!

Whatever way you decide to give yourself a Mid-Week Energy Reset, remember that the point is to regroup and re-energize for the rest of the week. Being as productive mid-week as you are at the beginning, (and the end!) is important and not that hard to do. You just need to remember to do it!

3 Simple Things to Move Today to Unstick Energy!!

Sometimes Feng Shui is so simple.

When you find that you're feeling stuck, the first place to look at is your home. Chances are almost 100% that you're surrounding yourself with stuck energy. Here are 3 Simple Things to move today to get that energy free flowing again:

1) Look at your mail pile. Have you gone through everything? Have you filed your receipts and notices of payments made? Have you recycled the junk mail? Is the mail on the table, the counter and everywhere but where it belongs? If your mail pile is building, go through it today and get that in order.

2) Look at your laundry area. Are the dirty clothes overtaking the space? Are the few clothes that were there just yesterday now a pile of overwhelm that keeps you from taking action? Go ahead - be brave. Go through the dark clothes and put together a load of laundry and get that ball rolling. In no time, you will have it back under control.

3) Check out your pantry. Look for expired food, containers with that one last cookie or the two lonely pretzels in that bag. Are there any donations you can make to a food shelf? Sometimes we buy groceries with the best of intentions, try something new and find we don't like it. Chances are your local food shelf will welcome it and it won't continue to take up space, or go to waste.

It is easy to be overtaken by the things that take up space in your home. The trick is to stay on top of it and when it starts to overtake you, overtake IT. It's really Feng Shui 101!

If you find you're ready to take further steps to balance and harmonize your home and life, please contact me. I am ready to be your guide as you put into motion the Feng Shui remedies you can use to bring forth the life you've been longing to live.

And as always, if you haven't already, sign up for my Feng Shui Tidbits newsletter at catherinedeanfengshui.com. It is absolutely free and each month brings forth yet more interesting ways in which Feng Shui surrounds and influences us!

Discover how Feng Shui changed her life for the better!

How well do you sleep? As many of you know, sleep doesn't come easy for a lot of you. When I'm asked how Feng Shui can help one sleep better, I think of my client from a couple of years ago.

She had complained that she didn't sleep well, especially around the full moon. I found that interesting because it appeared she slept pretty well otherwise.

I did a consultation with her and looked at her bedroom which seemed flawless from a Feng Shui perspective. Bed in the command position, no clutter, everything well taken care of, good energy flow. And then, I saw...

The Picture.

What do you think of when you see this picture of a crouching black panther staring out at you from the jungle? Well, I can tell you I felt hunted. Preyed upon. Not peaceful at all. So, naturally, she would have some difficulty sleeping, but what was the full moon connection that made it worse?

Then I realized that during the full moon, nighttime is a lot brighter, making it much more difficult for a preyed upon animal to hide. Well, of course. She was feeling the vulnerability of the full moon's exposure more acutely than during the other nights of the month.

There are many things Feng Shui can do to help you sleep better. But in this case, she removed the picture and her sleeping improved. When understanding the symbolism associated with her artwork and making that one small change, she saw the value of Feng Shui in her life.

And that is available to all of you. Whether you're having trouble sleeping, selling your home, finding that perfect someone, getting over that hurdle, Feng Shui and I are here to help. You can read about more tips for a good night's sleep on my blog at catherinedeanfengshui.com and while you're there, sign up for my free newsletter! I look forward to helping you get a good night's sleep too!

Your kitchen? Yes, indeed.

You have plans to get your act together. You've bought the whole grains and the fiber and you tossed the ultra processed. You have your workout clothes cleaned and ready to go. Your determination has come out of dormancy and the time is now! So you went to the store, motivated. Proud of yourself the whole drive home. You brought the groceries home and into the kitchen and then what? You couldn't even find a place to put them!

The counter was cluttered. Dirty dishes, last night's baking pan, this morning's mess. Not to mention the mail from the past two weeks.

Okay, so you put the grocery bags on the floor and go to the cupboard, hoping there will be space on the shelf and what do you find?

More of the same.

It's sabotage!

Maybe you don't have the largest kitchen in the world but that totally does not matter. What does matter is that your space is neat, orderly and uncluttered. How can you see your path forward toward your goals if the space surrounding you is mired in stuff?

It's time to Tame Your Kitchen.

Before embarking on the trip to the grocery store, spend time cleaning, organizing and decluttering your kitchen. Have that space ready to center and support you on this next exciting journey toward your ultimate goal. Don't hand your power over to your kitchen so it can sabotage you. Stand ready and empowered when you organize and show some love to your kitchen.

Remember that a journey of thousand miles starts with a single step. You're determined, capable and deserving. You can do this! So create the space that will support you all along the way. Bored with your job? Unfulfilled? Are your efforts being overlooked? Have you just about had enough?

Boy, can I relate! You put in the time, you think you're making a difference and suddenly you realize you're just spinning your wheels.

What can you do to turn things around? To make a change that fulfills you in the long run?

I had a client who asked me the same questions. Was he in the right job? Should he look elsewhere? Should he make a change?

We took a look at his office. It was set up pretty well; his desk was technically in the command position, but I could see where the flow of energy was getting stuck.

I advised him to make some changes: move the desk here, re-arrange the room to be more conducive to free flowing energy and declutter some of the items that were taking up space.

He made those changes and about two months later, he was recruited for a job tailor made for him. It did require him to move, but he and his wife were game so it was a on to a new adventure. Years later, the job is still enjoyable and fulfilling!

If you're thinking of making a career change or are looking to improve how you feel about the one you have, don't underestimate the power of a Feng Shui consultation. I am here to help guide you toward that fulfilling job you're longing for and I'm happy to help!

Are you overwhelmed and looking for a little inspiration? Read on because I have a story for you.

I grew up in the 60s and 70s and while there was a lot of
important good news like America landing astronauts on the moon, there was also
the troubling news around Viet Nam. While Elvis wasn't the top dog anymore, the
Beatles were climbing their mountain. And while beehives hairdos were on their
way out, miniskirts and bell bottoms were on their way in. So much change!

One day, my dad noticed I was feeling overwhelmed at a
particularly upsetting news story I had seen. He pulled me aside and offered me
this little quip which to this day, I find to be so inspirational. It goes like
this:

Life by the inch is a cinch. Life by the yard is hard.

Take that in for a moment.

We are in a specific time period in Feng Shui called Period 9.
It is linked to the Fire element and Fire is transitional. We are going through
transitional times and if you follow Feng Shui, you've been expecting this.
Expecting change doesn't necessarily make change easier though. Processing them
in bite size pieces does.

There is a lot to embrace about Period 9 and I'll be writing
more about it in time. But for this weekend, if you're feeling a little
overwhelmed, I hope this inspirational quote can bring things into manageable
perspective. Things will even out and you can enjoy the little things in life.
Out of transition comes transformation and we can embrace that.

Clutter can overtake anyone. You set down one item, you move to another area and place something there, you get distracted by a phone call, the laundry needs folding, your special someone brings the groceries in and it's chaos reigning supreme. Sound familiar?

Clutter can happen right before your very eyes. And as my saying goes, "clutter is the enemy of your serenity."

You know you need to address it, but where do you start? Well, big decluttering jobs may need a professional to help you, but if yours is a situation that you can handle, but it's overwhelming here are three easy Feng Shui tips to help you get started.

Hang up your coat, put away your shoes and put your down in a place you won't trip over it.
Put the groceries away, place your reusable bags in a designated location and recycle used bags.
Fold the laundry and ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ข๐ญ ๐š๐ฐ๐š๐ฒ!

Okay, I know it's not easy to declutter, but these three tips will help because you have to start somewhere. Always start at the surface. When diving deeper into a decluttering project, for each item you go through ask yourself: Do I need it? Do I use it? Do I love it?

I always recommend that people start small because you'd be surprised how that can get the ball rolling. And once things are organized, neat and tidy, you will love the way that feels!

The traditional colors of each Element are repented here with green representing Wood, red representing Fire, yellow or tan/brown representing Earth, white or gray/gold representing Metal and black representing Water.

As you know, there are so many variations on the basic colors and as your own style emerged, your favorites became obvious. Is that because these colors bring you the most peace and harmony? Let me know which Feng Shui color brings you the most peace and harmony!

When is it a good time to display your knives in your kitchen? The answer is: never.

Now, don't freak out. I understand that you're a gourmet in the kitchen, or that those knives are the tools of your favorite hobby, or that you've always had your knives in that beautiful butcher block on the counter. I get it!

But think about what knives are all about: cutting, and slicing. Necessary activities in the kitchen, but when the knives aren't in use and on display? Then the pointy, stabbing, slicing connotations associated with knives are always circulating in your conscious or unconscious mind. That cutting energy is close at hand and feeds into the energy that surrounds you.

So, what to do? Look into drawer dividers for your kitchen knives and get them off your counters. It will free up precious counter space and at the same time, will rid your kitchen of that aforementioned energy.
home because they are so necessary. But if you're looking for harmonious energy to surround you in your home, they should not be on display. As a side note, we had our knives on display in our home - until I knew better. When we put them in a drawer and ditched the holder, the space not only looked better, but it ๐‘“๐‘’๐‘™๐‘ก so much better too! Seriously, you really could feel the difference.

I hope you give it a try.

07/26/2025

Did you know you have a wealth area in your home? In Feng Shui, Wealth is a life area that is represented on the Bagua. If you are not satisfied with the wealth or money aspect of your life, you can make a few adjustments to attract abundance and prosperity.

To start, locate the wealth corner of your space, which is located in the Southeast area of your home and/or office. In BTB Feng Shui, the wealth corner is the far left corner from the entrance. You can enhance this area using items or the elements that symbolize wealth and abundance. But before you add anything to this area, be sure it is clutter free! The effects of any enhancements or adjustments will be seriously diminished if the space is bogged down with clutter.

Using the Elements to enhance the wealth corner is an easy way to create supportive energy that can attract wealth into your life. The Element associated with wealth is Wood. You can use a wood table, a wooden bowl or other wooden object, or use the color green. The colors purple and gold are used as well. You can bring these colors in by using pillows, rugs, or artwork.

A water feature can be used as well, but this year, representing the water element is better than using actual running water in the Southeast. You can represent water with the color black (in a rug, using a bowl or decorative item, pillows, etc.) or dark blue. Adding plants (the Wood element) can be practical and pretty, and is another way to enhance the space.

If you find that your money goes out as fast (or faster) than it comes in, or if you are looking to meet your financial goals but are just not quite there yet, consider enhancing your wealth corner! By making these adjustments and being mindful of clutter in this area, you can create a space that supports the flow of abundance and prosperity into your life. Be intentional, give it some time and enjoy the benefits of your efforts!

I have been busy behind the scenes and can't wait to fill you in! But - not yet! Some exciting changes are coming to Catherine Dean Feng Shui and the big winner will be YOU!

The following is a little hint:

When it comes to the art of Feng Shui, many people are surprised to learn that there isn't just one way to practice it. In fact, there are several schools of thought, each with its unique approach and philosophy! ๐ŸŒฟ Understanding these different schools can help you choose the right method that resonates with your personal beliefs and lifestyle.

One well-known school is Form School, which emphasizes the importance of the physical environment and its shapes. This approach focuses on the natural landscape, building shapes, and the placement of objects to create harmonious energy flow. On the other hand, we have Compass School, which uses the directions and the energy of the environment based on the compass to determine the optimal placement of furniture and elements within a space. ๐Ÿงญ๐Ÿก

Then thereโ€™s the Black Hat Sect, which I have been practicing for nine years. This method combines elements of Tibetan Buddhism with traditional Feng Shui, offering a more spiritual and intentional approach that focuses on the Bagua map. Lastly, the Flying Stars school takes a more time-based approach, using the movement of energy through cycles to determine the best times for action in your space. ๐ŸŒŒ

Are you curious about which Feng Shui school aligns with your goals? Stay tuned - more info and options will be coming your way. I can't wait to share it all with you!
