Community First Care is excited to announce that we purchased a new building and will be moving in the next week! Our new address will be 229 Empire Blvd. Rochester NY 14609.

This building is accessible, has meeting rooms, a large parking lot and plenty of office space for us to grow into! It will allow us to grow our programs and add staff when the need arises. The building will also make it easier for people to access us as it is close to Highway 590 and has RGRTA route 103 and 42 buses drive right past it.

Huge thank you to our clients and donors who are making this dream a reality for us! Also a thank you to our Realtor Laura LaManna for assisting us with this process.

Community First Care Organization Statement on Monroe, Erie, and Onondaga County moving to Yellow alert for Covid:

Community First is monitoring the situation with Covid-19 in our communities and continues to put in place the best practices to keep our staff and clients healthy and safe. Community First Care Organization is an essential business and will remain open and serving our communities and clients throughout this public health emergency.

Home Visits:

At Community First Care Organization we believe that achieving the necessary benefits to help you remain in the community of your choosing is of upmost importance and will continue to visit you in your home to assist you receiving the benefits you need to remain independent. While we are meeting with you in your home all individuals must remain masked at all time and social distancing of 6 feet will be adhered to when space allows. We plan to continue to offer home visits throughout this public emergency regardless of what color alert we are in. Receiving Medicaid and home health services is confusing and unnecessarily complicated and receiving these benefits so our clients can avoid being unnecessarily placed in a Nursing Home is of upmost importance to us.

Office Visits:

Drop in, walk in, and unscheduled appointments at our offices will be suspended ongoing while we are in the different color stages of the emergency. This is so that we are able to meet proper social distancing requirements at all times in our office. Appointments will still occur on a scheduled basis in our office and if you wish to set one up please call us at 585-441-9214. There will be limited ability for us to meet your needs if you make an unscheduled visit to our office but will do everything, we can to meet your needs safely.

Pooled Trust Payments and Representative Payments:

There will be no interruption to the payment of your bills if you are enrolled in our Pooled Trust or Representative Payee Program. This is an essential service and there will be no change to this throughout this public health emergency.

If you have any other questions or concerned please call us at 585-441-9214 and please remember to stay masked, stay apart, and most of all stay safe.

8.7 million Americans are at risk of missing out on the $1,200.00 stimulus payment. These individuals are missing out on the funds due to incomplete information at the Treasury Department because these individuals are not tax payers and not benefit receivers. These 8.7 million are assumed to be in the really low income category or citizens. If you did not receive a stimulus payment you only have until September 30th to use the non-filer tool at the IRS website to receive this income. If you need help or have questions give us a call today at 585-441-9214 for no a cost advisement session.

The group consists of people who do not normally file tax returns, and are likely to be “very low-income” and most in need of the money.

A disappointing story out of Batavia today but it shows the importance of doing your research on trustee for you trust account. A funeral home is accused of misappropriating $525,000 of clients trust funds.

Community First Care Organization carries both a bad behavior bond of up to $10,000 (able to be accessed by clients in the event your funds are misappropriated) and is audited by independent auditors annually to give you the piece of mind that your funds are safe and secure and will only ever be used for your benefit.

If you are a current irrevocable trust holder, either pooled trust individual trust or prepaid burial trust, at another organization please check to make sure they have these safeguards in place.

All of us here at Community First Care hope that the victims are able to recover their funds and that Medicaid does not hold these resources against them when they do to recertify.

A Batavia funeral home owner is facing a litany of charges after the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office says he used more than $525,000 that was supposed to be for pre-paid funeral arrangements for other purposes.
