One of the silver linings of time spent in the hospital? The friendships that form with people who truly understand what you’re going through. 💙

Just ask Annmarie, Jasmine, and Haley, whose lasting bond began on the SMH High Risk Antepartum unit. After meeting at a Halloween craft event, they started spending time together—walking the halls, grabbing coffee, and sharing meals—while talking through test results, fears, hopes, and the uncertainty of their pregnancies. Nurses affectionately dubbed them the “antepartum council” as they welcomed and supported other moms on the unit.

When Annmarie’s daughter, Kinsley, was born at just 31 weeks, Jasmine and Haley were there to lean on throughout a challenging five-week NICU stay. When Haley's son was born and also admitted into the NICU, she too had that same support from her friends.

Jasmine, whose son spent three months in the NICU, emphasized how important these friendships were when it was finally time to head home. “We had no idea how scary it would feel to leave the support system that had been in place 24/7 since the moment he was born. I am so thankful for the friendship of moms who understood what I was going through after bringing my NICU baby home.”

“Despite the circumstances, I’m grateful GCH and Strong brought us and our children together. It made all the difference having their love and support,” Annmarie shared. "My friends have transformed what could have been a very traumatizing time in my life to a positive experience," Haley adds.

The trio has stayed close ever since, connecting through playdates, group chats, and even spending holidays together.

“I went into the hospital for a heart—and I came out with a sweetheart.” ❤️

This Valentine’s Day weekend, we’re looking back at one of our greatest love stories.

In 2010, Danny Pszczolkowski was waiting for a new heart at Strong Memorial Hospital. Down the hall, Esther FitzRandolph was recovering from minor complications following her own heart transplant.

What started as hallway conversations turned into hand-holding, laughter, and eventually a lifelong commitment. The couple even returned to Strong to celebrate their wedding. 💕

Sometimes, the greatest gift of all is finding someone who truly understands your heart—literally.
