“I went into the hospital for a heart—and I came out with a sweetheart.” ❤️

This Valentine’s Day weekend, we’re looking back at one of our greatest love stories.

In 2010, Danny Pszczolkowski was waiting for a new heart at Strong Memorial Hospital. Down the hall, Esther FitzRandolph was recovering from minor complications following her own heart transplant.

What started as hallway conversations turned into hand-holding, laughter, and eventually a lifelong commitment. The couple even returned to Strong to celebrate their wedding. 💕

Sometimes, the greatest gift of all is finding someone who truly understands your heart—literally.

“The best Palliative Care program I’ve ever seen.”

Congratulations to our Palliative Care team for earning high praise after its eighth consecutive Joint Commission Advanced Certification for Palliative Care! The one-day survey in January led to compliments on the breadth and depth of the clinical team’s collaboration, regional growth, educational efforts, quality improvement processes, and research programs.
