Kiyanna* told the compassionate CompassCare nurse she tried to have an ab•r⊺ⅈ•n earlier in the pregnancy but for some reason, the ab•r⊺ⅈ•n office sent her a text that they had cancelled the appointment.

She thought maybe God was telling her to continue to carry the baby.

Three times an ab•r⊺ⅈ•n was scheduled. Three times this emotionally struggling, ab•r⊺ⅈ•n-determined woman didn’t go through with it.

1 Timothy 2:1 perfectly lays out the call that CompassCare's mission answers: valuing all human beings as highly as our God and Creator does, and devoting time, energy, and prayers to their wellbeing. Who qualifies for this level of care? All people! And especially women facing unplanned pregnancy, and the pre-born boys and girls that they carry in their wombs.

When our nurses followed up a few days later, Kiyanna* shared that she was just too conflicted to go through with the ab•r⊺ⅈ•n at that time. So, it was rescheduled for two weeks later.

Again, the CompassCare nurses reached out to Kiyanna. Once again, she didn’t go. When asked why she merely replied, “I don’t know.”

We know. The prayers of the people of God are mighty in the ears of the Lord! Three times an ab•r⊺ⅈ•n was scheduled. Three times this emotionally struggling, ab•r⊺ⅈ•n-determined woman didn’t go through with it.

CompassCare nurses will continue to follow up and see that Kiyanna gets prenatal care and continues to carry this life so that this baby sees its birthday.

Children are a blessing from the Lord (Psalms 127:3). It's no wonder that 70% of women who "chose" to end their pregnancy report feeling coerced into the decision—the world in its blindness sees a blessing as a burden, but a woman knows the truth in her heart, and the truth is that our Creator gives good gifts! (Matthew 7:11)

Alexis’ pregnancy test was positive. Suddenly, life as she had hoped and planned it would be seemed at risk. She was still in college and being a mom wasn’t on her radar yet.

“It’s not that I don’t want children; it’s just that I’m not ready…” It’s a feeling many CompassCare patients can resonate with.

Alexis went online and ordered chemical abortion pills. Despite the lethal side effects and that it is illegal to do so, the abortionist sent her the drugs in the mail.

Alexis now found herself at a crossroads. She had the abortion pills in hand...

But something stopped her. That’s when she went online and found CompassCare.

A TeleCare nurse was able to see Alexis immediately. Alexis shared that her husband wanted her to keep the baby, but would support whatever decision Alexis made.

Still undecided, Alexis agreed to get an ultrasound at one of CompassCare’s offices. The ultrasound revealed a strong, healthy baby!

Alexis found freedom that day. She changed her mind! She said she was going to continue the pregnancy and tell her family.

Brittany is a mother of three and recently discovered she is pregnant again.

Immediately, tensions began flooding her mind: “How will we get by financially? How will I keep working with an infant?” She felt that *brt--n was the only way to escape these pressures.

On her way to get an *brt--n, on the busy streets of The Bronx, Britany met a sidewalk counselor. The counselor was aware that CompassCare’s Mobile Medical Unit (Mobile 1) was parked nearby that day and invited Brittany to get a free ultrasound. Interested, Brittany approached the friendly CompassCare nurse on Mobile 1.

Brittany’s nurse quickly set up the ultrasound, which revealed a very active 10-week-old baby.

Brittany still felt the pressures of her circumstances but agreed to take time to consider her decision.

Two weeks later, a follow-up ultrasound revealed the now 12-week-old baby again jumping all around! Brittany left again, still undecided.

Last week, Brittany told her nurse that she and the baby's father are excited to welcome their baby into the world—calling him a blessing!

CompassCare will continue connecting Brittany to resources in NYC to help throughout her pregnancy and beyond.
