Rome has produced a series of videos for those who'd like to know more about mausoleums, or just see great pictures and videos of great mausoleums from around the world and here at home, Episode 1 answers the question, "What Is a Mausoleum?". You'll go inside grand entombment buildings that house the deceased family’s remains in caskets, urns, tombs, burial chambers and crypts. You’ll learn the basics about private family mausoleums, their purpose, their origin, and how burial in an above ground mausoleum differs from that of an inground burial in a grave. Mausoleums are free-standing above-ground structures that hold the bodies or ashes of the deceased.

Ever wonder how a private family walk-in mausoleum like this is built? In May 2023, we recorded the installation of this 3-crypt mausoleum by Rome Monument in Evergreen Cemetery in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. The mausoleum was custom designed by Rome, pre-built at the factory, shipped hundreds of miles to the site, hoisted onto the plot by a 75-ton crane truck, finalized by the Rome crew, and landscaped with trees and plants, a path, and a bench. It's an interesting watch. Click here to see the whole process: https://www.romemonuments.com/how_walk_in_mausoleums_are_built

Thanks to Bill Hapach and the Rome installation team for providing this family with a very special memorial.

'See Inside the Different Types Of Mausoleums'
You've all seen the outsides of mausoleums...but how about the insides? We collected video on dozens of beautiful mausoleum interiors with Tiffany Stained Glass windows, marble crypts, spacious vestibules, and some really cool items families added to the interiors. Walk-In mausoleums are built with bronze doors that have glass to peer through, so their magnificence is meant to be seen by the public. Here's where you can see our full video: https://www.romemonuments.com/mausoleums/things_to_know

Consider this post a Public Service Announcement from Vince and Diane at Rome Monument: In spite of what some cemeteries may tell you, you ALWAYS have the choice who to buy your monument or mausoleum from. Recently, we've talked to several families who have been told by their cemeteries that they have to buy their headstone or mausoleum from them. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! Don't fall for their strongarm tactics. There are laws against these types of tactics. You can have anyone build your monument - including a private monument builder like Rome. Take your time when making your decision. Do your research. Weigh your options. If the cemetery ends up being your best option, go with it. If Rome Monument or another monument builder is your best option, then go with them. We work with cemeteries all the time. Most are good people. But beware of the bad ones. Thank you.

In November of 2023, William Hapach and Adam Krupp of Rome Monument completed one of the most difficult private mausoleum installations in the history of our company. The mausoleum was installed for the Smith family on their private property in the state of Montana. The staging area for the crane was setup 87 feet above where the mausoleum was placed. Our family at Rome Monument and Rome Inspirations would like to thank the Smith family for the privilege of creating and installing their private mausoleum.

While prepping the Shell cracker plant project in Monaca, Pennsylvania, a body was unearthed that no one knew was buried there. They obviously had to move the remains and memorialize the individual. Shell uses local companies as part of their social investment strategy and contacted Chris Morgan at our Rochester showroom for the memorial. The memorial was installed in a tiny private cemetery in the back of a farm in Center.

Charles Wesley Godwin, an up and coming country musician from West Virginia, drove to a small recording studio in New Brighton. On his way he passed the cracker plant and saw the all cranes. He asked about this and then wrote a song about the body that was discovered and was memorialized.
