We are pleased to welcome Dr. Sharmila Arjunan to the Mayo Clinic Dental Specialties team as a Senior Associate Consultant in Orthodontics.

Dr. Arjunan is board certified in the United States and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. She provides comprehensive orthodontic care for children, adolescents, and adults. In addition to her general orthodontic practice, Dr. Arjunan has specialized expertise in managing children with craniofacial differences—from infancy through adulthood—including early pre-surgical orthopedic therapy and long-term multidisciplinary care.

Please join us in congratulating Becky on her 35th anniversary with Mayo Clinic! 🎉

Originally from Wisconsin, Becky moved here in 1990 to start her career as a Medical Secretary. After exploring various departments, she found her home in Endocrinology, where she spent 20 years advancing through leadership roles such as Assistant Supervisor, Office Manager, and Operations Coordinator.

Her journey then led her to serve as Operations Manager of Radiation Oncology, where she was instrumental in opening the Jacobson Building and launching the proton beam therapy program. Seven years ago, Becky took on her current role as Administrator of Ophthalmology and Dental Specialties.

Becky shares, “I have enjoyed every minute of my career at Mayo and have loved being a member of the Dental Specialties family! 😊”

🎉Please join us in celebrating Laurie, who is retiring! Laurie’s dedication, humor, and expertise have touched the lives of countless colleagues and patients alike.

Laurie's career began in general dentistry with Dr. Glenn Lilleskov in 1980, where she interned and then worked as a licensed dental assistant for 20 years. On April 17, 2000, she joined the Dental Specialties family, primarily working in Prosthodontics with Dr. Ned Van Roekel and later Dr. Alan Carr for 15 years.

After 39 years in dental assisting, Laurie’s interest in dental lab work led her to join the Dental Lab team. Her patient care experience, prosthodontic knowledge, and even her wood carving skills made her a perfect fit. Laurie credits her success to Joe, Rob, and Gayle, who mentored her and taught her so much along the way.

“It’s been an honor and privilege to work at Mayo learning and treating patients... putting their needs before anyone else… and working with the great group I have had the opportunity to get to know.”

Laurie, your journey is inspiring, and your impact is lasting. We wish you all the best in this exciting new chapter. Enjoy every moment of your well-earned retirement! 💐

✨ Last week, we had the incredible opportunity to host dental professionals at our 64th Mayo Clinic Dental Reviews conference!

🦷⚕ We enjoyed learning from experts in both the medical and dental specialties, whose insightful presentations sparked valuable discussions. Interdisciplinary collaborations were spotlighted through the Laney Symposium, and the Carr Symposium showcased impressive research from dental trainees.

🤝 The conference was not just about learning; it fostered connections! We had a great time at our social reception, where everyone got to mingle, network, and share ideas.

Thank you to all the attendees who joined us for the conference. We hope to see you next year on April 10th and 11th, 2026! 📆
