The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is focused on research and educational programs which relate to microbial pathogens (viruses and prokaryotic and eukaryotic microbes) and the host immune defenses which protect against these organisms.

Sneak peak into the labs of MBI: Yarovinsky lab!

The Yarovinsky lab studies the effects of IFNg on the innate immune response, specifically in the context of Toxoplasma Gondii and tissue resident macrophages. Sophia and Zoe’s projects are focused on the resident macrophage populations of the brain and lung, respectively, while Tyler is focused on the gut epithelial layer.

Yesterday, we had such an amazing time at our annual department retreat for the first time as the Institute of Immunological Sciences! It is always a pleasure to share ideas within the department and to broaden our knowledge with our wonderful keynote speaker Dr. Raychaudhuri. 🧫🔬🧪
