I took yesterday off from running and walking (rest days matter, too)

So today, I got back at it with a run, then took my son on a second run.

Three takeaways from this:

1) Teaching our kids a love of movement and activity from an early age can help them avoid a number of health problems later in life.

2) My son chatted non-stop during the run. The activity gave him a chance to talk to me uninterrupted by his siblings or other life events. It helps us build a stronger relationship.

3) This was his longest continuous run to date, and I just wanted to brag for him for a second 😁 I'm super proud of his effort!

I'm not saying men are plants, but we do respond really well to water and sunshine. 😂.

Turns out by avoiding dehydration and getting time outside in the sun, we can reduce headaches frequency and intensity, we can improve pain levels, we boost mood, improve immune function, among other benefits.

If you're looking for a place to start - water and sunshine are a good one.

Today did not go as planned. I managed to turn off my alarm before I actually woke up and didn't give myself enough time to run as far as I planned. I still decided to go on this quick run. Giving myself both the boost of physical activity and a little bit of progress towards my goal. Sometimes, giving ourselves a little grace is an important part of health.
