New Program through the Minnesota Office of Emergency Medical Services to close out EMS Week!

Check your rosters and submit for your providers!

Today, the Minnesota Office of Emergency Medical Services is proud to launch the Minnesota EMS Years of Service Recognition Program.

EMS professionals dedicate years of their lives to serving Minnesota communities. Whether paid or volunteer, every year of service represents time spent answering calls, supporting patients, and strengthening local emergency medical services.

The program recognizes cumulative Minnesota EMS service at five-year milestones beginning at 5 years and continuing through 50+ years of service.

Participating EMS organizations may now submit eligible recipients for recognition through the Minnesota EMS Years of Service Recognition Program.

MAY 18, 2026- ALTURA, MN

This week kicked off EMS Week 2026 and last night we celebrated EMS Education Day, we proudly celebrate the dedication, training, and teamwork of emergency responders who make a difference everyday in our communities. EMS Education Day highlights the importance of ongoing learning, preparedness, and collaboration that allows providers to deliver high-quality care when seconds matter most.

We recognized our volunteers and celebrated their patient, Terry, being with us to c celebrate our crews. Altura Ambulance and Rollingstone First Responders were presented with Certificates of Commendation and CPR Save pins for their actions the day of Terry's out of hospital cardiac arrest in March 2026.

This outcome reflects the strength of the Chain of Survival — early recognition, immediate CPR, rapid response, advanced medical care, and teamwork between responders and healthcare partners.

Every CPR save is a reminder that training matters, teamwork matters, and EMS professionals and first responders continue to make an incredible impact on the lives of those they serve. Thank you to all EMS personnel, first responders, dispatchers, healthcare teams, and community members who help save lives every day.

🗣If your services would like to submit providers for recognition from the Regional Program, submissions and criteria can be found here:

In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week™ to celebrate EMS professionals and the important work they do in our nation's communities. National Emergency Medical Services Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's frontline.

EMS Week is presented by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) in partnership with the National Associations of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT).

Together, NAEMT and ACEP lead annual EMS Week activities. These organizations are working to ensure that the important contributions of EMS professionals in safeguarding the health, safety and well-being of their communities are fully celebrated and recognized.

Many of your local services will have numerous activities in celebration of EMS week. Check their webpages or social media for events!
