Today, we honor and remember the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

In our community, we are especially grateful for the veterans, families, and loved ones who carry these memories and sacrifices with them. This Memorial Day, we pause in remembrance and gratitude for those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.

Our Dementia Care Navigator, Sarah, and Director of The Clare & Jerry Rotenberg Institute on Aging, Courtney, attended the “Reshaping Dementia Care Through Compassionate Connection” event hosted by the Charles E. Smith Life Communities. Teepa Snow was the featured speaker.

Teepa is well known in the world of dementia care, educating both professional and family caregivers across more than 30 countries. She has delivered over 8,000 trainings and developed more than 500 dementia care webinars.

Teepa used her “Positive Approach to Care” to demonstrate practical strategies and methods for supporting individuals with brain changes. At the symposium, Teepa also presented on the GEMS states of brain change. Teepa connects each state of brain change to a corresponding gemstone.

Sarah Blum, Dementia Care Navigator at Jewish Home, is trained in the Positive Approach to Care method and has been modeling these behaviors for caregivers at Jewish Home. To learn more, reach out to The Clare & Jerry Rotenberg Center for Excellence in Dementia Care at 585-784-6512.

We had a wonderful turnout at our Spring Symposium, hosted by The Clare & Jerry Rotenberg Institute on Aging at the end of April! Attendees had the opportunity to hear from the incredible Dr. Tracey Gendron, author of Ageism Unmasked: Exploring Age Bias and How to End It, who shared valuable insights on ageism and practical ways to challenge age-related bias.

A special thank you to our Jewish Home team members who helped share information about our many services, and to everyone who joined us for such an impactful and informative session.

In April, The Clare & Jerry Rotenberg Institute on Aging co-sponsored the Games & Gadgets Fair, hosted by Lifespan at The Strong Museum of Play. Our Dementia Care Navigator and team attended this wonderful event for caregivers and care partners supporting individuals living with dementia, memory loss, or other cognitive challenges.

The event featured a variety of interactive tools, resources, and activities designed to support cognitive engagement and enhance quality of life. It was a great opportunity to connect with the community, share helpful information, and learn about innovative approaches to care. We’re proud to be part of initiatives that support both individuals and families navigating the dementia journey.
