"Sciatic" pain has become a catch all for any back pain and more commonly any leg pain. True sciatic radiculopathy is much less common and more debilitating. The commonly used "sciatic" pain can be sacroiliac pain, piriformis syndrome, It band pain, tight hamstrings, and many, many more I have heard described as "sciatic pain".
