Today is World Doula Day, kicking off World Doula Week! Doulas are trained companions who provide compassionate support in specific situations, like during pregnancy and childbirth. There are also transition doulas, Indigenous doulas, abortion doulas, bereavement doulas, and more. They are an amazing support system, and they deserve to be celebrated! 🌎

These groups are SO frequently recommended during coffee hour and have been a place for community-building in Rochester, MN for years!

A little nugget from a mom to older teens shared with a first-time parent of an infant who was looking for ways to build community during coffee hour today: Keep showing up and getting out when it feels accesible to you, rest a lot, send the awkward texts to meet up or have someone over even when the house is messy. Finding friends is trial and error and grace and growth.
