Every six minutes, a patient at Mayo Clinic needs a transfusion of blood or blood products. A simple blood donation can save the life of a child with leukemia, restore the strength of a cancer patient or provide a critical transfusion to an accident victim. There is no substitute for this life-saving gift, so our patients rely upon the caring spirit of blood donors like you. Volunteer donors are especially needed during the summer months, when an increase in elective and emergency surgeries means the demand for blood and blood products is also higher. Please consider making an appointment to donate blood today, and encourage friends, co-workers and family members to do so as well. Want to be like Ed? His advice: See if you’re eligible to donate double reds!

A double red blood cell donation = Double the donation with half the pokes. Double reds donors donate every 168 days with the Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Program, whereas whole-blood donors donate every 84 days.

Did you miss us every second Wednesday at Saint Mary’s Campus? Well this week, we’re back!

Our temporary location is on 14th Ave SW, right across from the main entrance. As a thank you for sticking with us during this change-up, everyone who attempts to donate will receive a $15 Taco JED gift card!

Heads up - Taco JED is closing Oct. 18 and will only be open this Saturday (Oct. 11) and next Saturday (Oct. 18), so don’t wait to use your card. But hey, we’ve still got cookies either way.
