We are so excited to introduce our next intern starting in January 2024. We love providing the support and experience to graduate interns in our community. Appointments with M will be at reduced fee of $50 and in person! Read below for more information and reach out to get on the waitlist!

My name is Meaghan Mahoney (they/she) and I prefer to go by M. I am an intern studying as a grad student at Syracuse University, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University in Boston, MA.

My primary experience has been working as an art teacher at a public school in Boston, MA. I had the privilege of working with children and teens. Oftentimes they would come to classes already navigating difficult circumstances and events, and in these classes, I witnessed the transformative power that art has.

I am interested in using nature-based and mindfulness-based art therapy to navigate healing. I believe that art therapy and nature, regardless of what form they may take, have a common goal of using felt truths to create and express while discovering the appropriate words. I believe anyone can create, and I believe in experimentation and play in art-making.

As a person who is q***r, and non-binary, I aim to have a welcoming space for anyone, especially those in the LGBTQIA+ community. I seek for my foundations to be a trauma-informed, inclusive approach with an emphasis on systems theories, which explore how the greater systems around us ultimately affect who we are and how we are. I believe in an eclectic approach that fits each client’s needs.

Outside of art-making, I love to forage and take care of my 75+ plants at home. I enjoy singing as loud as I can in my car, and a good spin cycle class. I’m almost always reading during my lunch breaks, and I love to bake vegan treats.

Welcome our newest team member, Caitlin Court!

Caitlin is a New York State Licensed and Board Certified Arts Therapist with an educational background in fine art and a specialization in textiles and illustration. Caitlin obtained her Masters of Science in Creative Arts Therapy in 2020 from Nazareth College. Caitlin’s experience within mental health agencies includes providing services for individuals and group work with teens and adults.

Professionally, Caitlin offers clients therapeutic services for grief and loss, anxiety, mood disorders, medical trauma, neurocognitive disorders and substance use disorders. Caitlin incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Person Centered and Existential approaches. Believing life experiences bring health, happiness, love and purpose, with the inevitability that people will have difficulty coping with hardships and struggles sometime in their lives. Her goal as an art therapist is to provide a place to share, connect and heal.

Caitlin supports her clients by being genuine and empathetic as they explore who they are and where they are while re-establishing hope, choice, safety, self care and meaning to their lives.

Prior to learning about art therapy in 2010 Caitlin moved from Charleston, South Carolina to Upstate New York where she taught fashion illustration as an adjunct instructor at Cazenovia
College.

Caitlin’s art has been featured and sold in local art galleries and businesses in the Finger Lakes. Along with art making a few of Caitlin’s favorite things are traveling, the outdoors, renaissance festivals (in costume), hydroponics, sewing and being with her family and friends.

Welcome, Caitlin! We look forward to the amazing work you will do! 🤗
