Here's something most people don't know about how heavy metals get into formula: they come from ingredients โ€” not from the manufacturing process. That means every time a supplier changes or a new ingredient lot comes in, the numbers can shift entirely.

Consumer Reports tested between one and three lots of each formula, purchased many months ago.

This doesn't mean the data isn't useful. This kind of information is needed to drive stronger federal regulations. But it does mean that a color-coded rating on a report from months ago is not a reliable verdict on the can in your cabinet today.

Is whole milk formula actually better?

A brand new infant formula just dropped, and I want to make sure you have the full picture before you spend your money.

Little Spoon just launched a whole milk based infant formula. Whole milk formulas are having a real moment right now โ€” Bobbie, Nara, ByHeart, Kendamil, Bubs. And now Little Spoon. So what is the deal?

The baseline isn't zero

This is the piece of context that changes everything when you're reading a scary formula headline.

The comparison point for "safe" isn't zero. It never was. Arsenic is in the earth, in the water, and yes โ€ฆ in breast milk, at safe levels. The goal for any formula is to match or stay close to what we see in human milk. Not zero. That's not achievable, and it's not the standard.

Context matters. You matter. Your baby is okay. ๐Ÿ’™
