Well, we've officially made it through a month of winter, and baby it's cold outside! Cold weather doesn't necessarily cause back pain, but it does create several scenarios resulting in serious muscle tension. In western New York, often shoveling can lead to just this. Here are 4 tips to avoid injury when shoveling.
Stretch first: 10-15 medium to deep squats will warm up your muscles and joints.
Wear layered clothes to stay limber and warm
Don't twist or turn. Instead shove the snow to the snow bank, and use your arms and legs to do the work.
Take breaks and stay hydrated. Take frequent breaks, and stop if you are out of breath or experience chest pain. Seek help promptly if needed and most importantly, water water water!

Call Dr. Nick and the team at Simply Health Chiropractic to set up a consultation, or to schedule an adjustment or general winter tune up. (585) 413-3048. We are currently accepting new patients!

Happy New Year from Dr. Nick and the staff at Simply Health Chiropractic! Here are 5 simple, healthy tips to Chiropractic Wellness that will help you improve your overall health!

1. Practice Posture: Posture is a developmental process, the more you stay in a position, the more that you will remain in that position. Whether standing or sitting, practicing good posture all of the time is important to a healthy back.
2. Get the Exercise Going: Regular stretching and exercise is a great way to keep your body loose and reduce stress. Not to mention it helps you look and feel better. So get moving!
3. Watch Yourself at Work: Get up and move around every 45 minutes. If you are required to do heavy lifting, make sure that you're using the proper techniques.
4. Avoid Bad Sleeping Habits: Try sleeping on your back or side with a pillow between your legs, never on your stomach if possible. If you are prone to falling asleep on the couch, use a pillow, never the armrest of the furniture.
5. Wallet in the Front Pocket Keeping your wallet and other belongings in your back pocket is one of the worst things people do every day! So keep your posterior clear!

Please feel free to share this important information on your page, or with friends and don't forget that you can always call or text Dr. Nick at Simply Health Chiropractic (585) 413-3048 with any questions or to schedule an appointment! We are currently accepting new patients, so get your spine in line for 2021!

As a chiropractor, my priority is to do what I must to ensure the health of my patients and the community that I serve. As such, Simply Health Chiropractic will be closed in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID19. This is not a decision I came to lightly. Treating this community is not merely my profession but my passion. I apologize for any inconvenience but ultimately this is the right choice. This virus cannot be adjusted away. However we as a community can choose to take steps to curb it's spread. Please reach out to me with any questions or in emergency situations through Messanger, email or my office or cell phone. I will keep you update as circumstances change, which seems to be occurring daily. Thank you and take care.
