Mom had her follow-up with the nephrologist today. Unfortunately, her GFR has dropped from 21 when we were at Mayo just a few weeks ago, to 15 today. 😔 Doctor has increased her meds and added a new one in hopes her levels will fluctuate up a bit to keep her from going on dialysis a little longer. We understand the weight of what we are asking, but we REALLY need a living kidney donor. Please consider giving the gift of life! We need a match now. ❤️

That being said, just because you are a blood type match, it comes down to the antibodies matching which has been the hard part. This process doesn’t cost you anything more than a few minutes of your time. Please help us find a match! A living donor is our best chance….

Update: We have some very sad news. We reached the final hours and were just notified that the surgery is no longer possible. The antibodies from the deceased individual and that of our Mom’s is not compatible no matter what they do. This was nothing the could have predicted. We are so incredibly sad and discouraged but God must know that someone else needs the kidney more 😞 Please, please continue to test if you’re willing or able. A live donor would be our best opportunity.

Update: We have some very sad news. We reached the final hours and were just notified that the surgery is no longer possible. Late this morning, Mom received the phone call we have waited almost 2 years for. We have a donor match!! We are praying so hard for the family of the individual who lost their life and are forever grateful that they chose to be an organ donor.

We made it to Mayo Clinic late this afternoon and there have been a lot of tests, doctors, surgeons, nurses, and the transplant team in and out of the room. The kidney has arrived and is GOOD. It’s on ice and on a pump and the entire medical team is feeling positive. Waiting on a few more results so surgery will be at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. It could take anywhere from 3-6 hours.

Please send all of the prayers and good vibes our way. Mom is in good spirits and ready to feel better. We are hopeful that this is the answer to our prayers! It’s been a surreal day….

Update: Mom had an appointment with her nephrologist today. Unfortunately, her numbers are dropping. We are still in search of a kidney donor match for a transplant. 1/7/25-Update: Good news!! Mom’s counts are stable so she will remain on same regimen and return to the Nephrologist in 3 months! Thanks for all of the thoughts, well wishes, and prayers. As you all know, we still NEED a donor match. 🙏🏻❤️

Please pray for stable results as she is currently at Mayo undergoing another two days of appointments and testing. At this time, we still have no matching donor 😞

We are still actively searching and praying for a kidney match for our Mom, Dana. If you haven’t been tested and are willing, please scroll down to the link. Mom (Dana) has met with her doctors this week and does have options with dialysis if it comes down to that but the hope is ALWAYS to find a match and get the transplant before getting to that point.
