Joseph’s Neighborhood Center Inc. provides comprehensive health care, mental health counseling, adult education, advocacy and social work services to individuals and families who are under and uninsured. Any uninsured or underinsured individual is welcome through our doors. The Center serves approximately 3,500 individuals who have 22,000 appointments per year. Patients and clients come primarily from the Rochester area and surrounding counties; however, there are no geographic or other limitations to our services. At this week's all-staff education meeting, led by our Integrated Health Specialist, Ari, Practice Administration Manager, MKay, and Director of Operations, Tara, we learned about Trauma-Informed Care's Modules 3: Wellness, Resilience, and Healing; 4: Trauma-Informed Approaches; and 6: Adopting the Practice.

Learning more about Trauma-Informed Care allows our staff to create a safe and inclusive space for those who walk through our doors.

Meet Sr. Connie Bickford, one of our volunteers within the Development department! She has been volunteering with SJNC since April 2025 - making it almost a full year since she started.

As a Sister of St. Joseph, Sr. Connie has seen the strong connection between the SSJ and SJNC as we continue to collaborate and support one another. She enjoys volunteering with us because it is an opportunity to support an organization that she feels provides a great service to the Rochester community.

When asked what her favorite part about volunteering was, Sr. Connie shared, "I think having an opportunity to interact, even on a limited scale, with the individuals who help make St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center what it is."

We are grateful for Sr. Connie's continued support in the Development department!

This month, we are asking our friends to consider donating unscented hygiene products, specifically body wash, face wash, and body lotion, for our clients.

Please note that these items go directly to clients; we ask that they be brand-new.

Donations can be dropped off during open hours (Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM) at 417 South Ave., Rochester, NY 14620.

Where Health is a Community Effort

St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center Inc. provides comprehensive health care, dental care, mental health counseling, complementery medicine and social work services to individuals and families who lack access to health insurance. Our fastest growing service, health care access, can help you examine your health care insurance options. Our funding comes from three primary areas: grants, client fees, and individual donations. More than three-quarters of our funding comes from donations from people like you! The Center's funding creates an annual budget of $1.6 million. The Center serves approximately 3,500 individuals who have 15,000 appointments per year. Patients and clients come primarily from the Rochester area and surrounding counties; however, there are no geographic or other limitations to service.
