Big News from Tree of Hope Counseling!

We are thrilled to announce that TOHC has been officially approved by the New York State Education Department as a provider of Continuing Education credits for Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs)!

This means LMHCs can now:
- Attend TOHC-hosted trainings and earn CE credits
- Propose and lead a training with our support

We already offer CE credits for LMSWs and LCSWs, and now we’re expanding our reach so even more mental health professionals can grow, connect, and share their expertise.

Meg combines the compassion of social work with the personal expression of photography to give older adults a platform to truly be themselves. Whether it is words of wisdom, candid silly moments, or posing with a meaningful object, Meg captures genuine emotion and beautiful stories - not just a posed photo.

Join us June 7th, 10am-4pm for the first annual Rochester Mental Health and Wellness Exchange!

Tree of Hope Counseling is hosting a community event where mental health and wellness providers can buy, sell, and connect. Whether you have a filing cabinet, office furniture, games, books, or handmade items you no longer need, or you’re looking to find something new for your practice, this event is for you.

Sellers are welcome to reserve a space and bring their own table, chairs, and/or tent. Tree of Hope will provide the venue at 2300 East Avenue, along with water, snacks for sellers, and advertising support!

SMALL BUSINESS CONNECTIONS 🌿

Meet Adrien Clark, owner of Axe of Kindness Tattoo! .roc

Adrien has been tattooing for 22 years and opened AOK in 2022 - inspired in part by Covid, which shifted his focus from what he lacked to what he had to give. He figured out how to tie that giving spirit into the work he already loved, and AOK was born.

The name says it all. An axe as a weapon against the cruelties of the world. Kindness as the mission. And every tattoo that leaves the shop? AOK. The artists at AOK did not just join a tattoo shop - they joined a mission. AOK donates regularly to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), and the shop has become a genuine safe space for clients who come in carrying stories and scars - some visible, some not.

Kara’s takeaway: Adrien knows what it is like to wear scars, and that awareness shapes everything about how he shows up for his clients and his community. This connection with Tree of Hope Counseling felt aligned from the very first conversation.

Walk-ins are welcome at AOK, and if they cannot accommodate you right away, they will get you scheduled and welcome you to stop in and check out the shop anytime. We are so glad this connection found us.

Meet Lauren Wadsworth, PhD, ABPP, Clinic Founder and Director of Genesee Valley Psychology!

Lauren built GVP with a clear vision: to bring specialized, evidence-based treatment to individuals struggling with mental health challenges that are traditionally difficult to treat. She saw a gap in the community and responded by creating a practice that takes research-based, manualized therapeutic approaches and makes them truly accessible - in a culturally responsive and financially accessible way.

What stood out to Kara from their conversation? At the core of GVP’s values is a commitment to evidence-based care done with real integrity and in a comprehensive way that many other settings simply cannot offer. For clients who need a treatment approach designed specifically for what they are struggling with, GVP is a genuine gift to our Rochester community.
