Grateful Life Doula Services

Grateful Life Doula Services We have a heart to walk alongside those on the journey of new life, both physically and spiritually. Our philosophy is Love at birth~ love for life.

Childbirth is a rite of passage in many cultures and brings honor to families, blessing, and empowerment to women. The birth of a baby is supposed to be a time for celebration and excitement; however, this is not the experience that everyone has. For those facing an unplanned pregnancy or who have had birth
trauma, they feel afraid, alone, and unsupported. At no other time in history has it been so crucial that women have the necessary support! Jessica LaFavor is a dedicated mother of three grown children and a certified doula providing childbirth education for families, and conducting workshops for Christian Doula Training. The mission of Grateful Life Ministries LLC is love at birth, love for life, to walk alongside those on the journey of new life physically and spiritually. She provides doula coaching, trauma healing retreats, birth preparation sessions, and wellness products that support healthy pregnancy and motherhood. https://www.amway.com/en_US/myshop/GratefulLifeRetail

The passing down of this ancient wisdom is essential to mothers, wives, sisters,
daughters, and all women. This creates community, support, and courage. Her 25+ years of experience in the doula field includes certification through
DONA International as a birth doula, a ProDoula trained postpartum doula. She's a trauma healing facilitator, a certified peer recovery specialist and the
Women's Site Director for Next Chapter Ministries. Her heart is legacy—to equip, encourage, and empower people to be healthy, growing, and full of love! Jessica: When people ask what I do as a doula: I provide non-medical birth support, childbirth education, and a biblical perspective on pregnancy, parenting and postpartum care. I specialize in Christian doula training to mentor women in the art of becoming professional doulas in their communities and around the world! To be a Grateful Life Doula is to be of service whether in physical delivery or spiritual discipleship. Do you have the heart of a doula? https://venmo.com/Grateful-Life

The purpose of World Doula Week (WDW) is to empower doulas all over the world to improve the physiological, social, emotional, and psychological health of women, newborns and families in birth and in the postpartum period.

The World Doula Week events will take place all over the world during the same week, stating the benefits of the presence of doulas in birth and in the postpartum period:

1. Reduces the incidence of c-sections

2. Increases new parents’ confidence in the care of their newborn.

3. May shorten the length of labor.

4. Reduces epidural and analgesic requests.

4. Increases breastfeeding initiation and continuation.

5. Increases mother’s satisfaction of birth experience.

6. Can reduce the incidence of postpartum mood disorders.

Are you giving birth and your family is out of town or lives in another country?

Birth doulas are people who can comfort you during your birth when family can’t be there.

What’s more, doulas support you with no agenda. They care only about YOU and the best outcome. No expectations or outside pressures.

Could you benefit from having someone to help with pain relief, inspiring confidence, and advocating for your wishes? Then you might want a doula!

Did you know that birth doulas work in a variety of settings? Not just home births, contrary to popular belief!

Birth doulas adapt to each environment while providing the same continuous care, comfort, and reassurance throughout labor, whether that be at home, in birthing center, or a hospital.💪🏽

Their support isn’t tied to a location; it’s centered on the needs and desires of the family.

As part of our February series, ‘Birth Support, Explained,’ we went back to basics on what birth doula support is; thank you for following along with us.💜

What else would you like to know about birth doulas?💭

More birth support doesn’t mean less medicine.

Having a doula and a medical provider is a team approach. Continuous support and medical expertise can exist in the same room, strengthening care instead of competing at the expense of it.💪🏽

It’s not either/or. It’s collaborative care that cares for the person holistically and leads to better outcomes.

As part of our February series, ‘Birth Support, Explained,’ we’re going back to basics on what doula support is and what it isn’t.🙌🏽 Stay tuned for more!

During Black History Month, it's important to acknowledge the lasting impact of the erasure of Black and Indigenous midwifery and how it directly impacts birth outcomes today.

Black midwives welcomed and saved countless lives in the US. The systematic erasure of a huge part of Black midwifery was and remains devastating.

We need more midwives overall, but we also need more Black midwives in the US.

Doulas do not replace midwives. Doulas do not lessen the need for more midwives. But doulas can positively impact the birthing experience for each family they serve despite these broken systems.

This article covers a bit of how Black doulas can improve birth experiences for growing Black families.
