On Friday, March 15, Rochester Regional Health participated in one of the medical education industry’s most exciting traditions. Every year on Match Day, fourth-year medical students find out where—in what specialty and hospital—the National Resident Matching Program has placed them for their upcoming years of training.

Last week, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) students who completed their clinical rotations at Rochester Regional Health gathered at Riedman Campus to learn and celebrate their residency placements.

Congratulations to all the medical students who worked so hard to achieve this career milestone—and to all our Rochester Regional team members who supported them along the way. Together, we prepare much-needed future generations of doctors to serve our community and nation.

Last week, we celebrated our love for pets across our long-term care communities!
Our team members brought in their furry friends to meet our residents, played pet trivia, and raffled baskets filled with goodies generously donated by our community. All funds raised went to Verona Street Animal Society. A heartfelt thank you to all who participated!

A big thank you to our more than 260 social workers for putting their heart and soul into the work they do, providing support and care to our patients. Happy Social Work Month!

Meet Tara Caruso, Registered Nurse, Practice Manager, St. Mary's Family Medicine/ Orchard Family Medicine

If you want to hear a true story about growth opportunities at Rochester Regional Health, just ask Tara Caruso, who started as a medical secretary and now works as both a nurse and practice manager.

“I am motivated daily to make a difference. In the healthcare realm, we have the distinct ability to affect someone's life. Knowing that I can put a smile on someone's face with kindness and a smile when they may not be at their best is so important. It is imperative to me to show that we care about their health and that they are not just a name. Also, watching my team grow, learn, and take pride in the work they do makes me so proud and motivates me to give 150% always,” she says.

Tara oversees two federally qualified health center family medicine practices and is responsible for the day-to-day operations. In addition, she works two to three evenings a week as a nurse at RRH Urgent Care locations.

Tara’s experience has also equipped her with solid career suggestions.

“My biggest career advice is to take pride in your work. Always be willing to go the extra mile and help anyone in need, even if it is "not your job." Hard work and dedication pay off. Do not do it for the money; do it for the love of the work that you do, the greater good, and helping those in need.”

Meet Ashley Rodas - Practice Administrator - Gastroenterology

It’s safe to say that Ashley Rodas has a lot on her plate. From overseeing the day-to-day operations for all seven gastroenterology locations to parenting twin 14-year-old boys, there is never a dull moment.

Ashley has been part of the system for the last 18 years. As the practice administrator for gastroenterology, she supports her robust team of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, techs, practice managers, and operating room schedulers.

Ashley's team is a large part of why she’s enjoyed working at Rochester Regional Health for nearly two decades.

“The best part of working at RRH is building relationships with other employees and departments. Collaborating with others to solve a problem or have an idea to better practice is a great feeling.”

When she’s not at work, she enjoys boating, fishing, and riding ATVs with her sons.

Meet Teresa Nicoletti - LPN, Spencerport Dialysis

For Teresa Nicolette, her love of her work stems from the same place her favorite team, the Buffalo Bills, gets their success from: incredible teamwork.

As a licensed practical nurse in dialysis, Teresa works with her dialysis team to support dialysis patients in their time of need.

“My coworkers are like my second family. They're absolutely amazing, and I have nothing bad to say about them. We are extremely lucky for the team members we have within dialysis. We all work as a team to ensure our patients are safe and satisfied.”

Her bubbly personality and infectious laugh are well known throughout her unit with coworkers and patients alike, which helps those surrounding her, have a better day.

“Having my patients tell me that I made their day. I hear this every so often, and it sticks with me. Life is too short to be upset on a regular basis, so if my bubbly self can make others happy, then I have no problem doing so!”

When she’s not at work, you can find Teresa cheering for the Bills or busy with school.

Michelle Hart has been a licensed practical nurse for 25 years and is making a difference in pulmonology at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Her patients and the providers she works with motivate her daily to wake up and go to work.

“I wake up every morning looking forward to work because I love my patients and the fact that I get to make a difference in their lives.
