On Friday, March 15, Rochester Regional Health participated in one of the medical education industry’s most exciting traditions. Every year on Match Day, fourth-year medical students find out where—in what specialty and hospital—the National Resident Matching Program has placed them for their upcoming years of training.

Last week, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) students who completed their clinical rotations at Rochester Regional Health gathered at Riedman Campus to learn and celebrate their residency placements.

Congratulations to all the medical students who worked so hard to achieve this career milestone—and to all our Rochester Regional team members who supported them along the way. Together, we prepare much-needed future generations of doctors to serve our community and nation.

Last week, we celebrated our love for pets across our long-term care communities!
Our team members brought in their furry friends to meet our residents, played pet trivia, and raffled baskets filled with goodies generously donated by our community. All funds raised went to Verona Street Animal Society. A heartfelt thank you to all who participated!

Each March, social workers throughout the system get together for a retreat to discuss various topics and celebrate the important work they do. RRH social workers continue to support our patients, caregivers, families, and the community at large in creative ways as they continue their vital work.

A big thank you to our more than 260 social workers for putting their heart and soul into the work they do, providing support and care to our patients. Happy Social Work Month!

Meet Tara Caruso, Registered Nurse, Practice Manager, St. Mary's Family Medicine/ Orchard Family Medicine

If you want to hear a true story about growth opportunities at Rochester Regional Health, just ask Tara Caruso, who started as a medical secretary and now works as both a nurse and practice manager.

“I am motivated daily to make a difference. In the healthcare realm, we have the distinct ability to affect someone's life. Knowing that I can put a smile on someone's face with kindness and a smile when they may not be at their best is so important. It is imperative to me to show that we care about their health and that they are not just a name. Also, watching my team grow, learn, and take pride in the work they do makes me so proud and motivates me to give 150% always,” she says.

Tara oversees two federally qualified health center family medicine practices and is responsible for the day-to-day operations. In addition, she works two to three evenings a week as a nurse at RRH Urgent Care locations.

Tara’s experience has also equipped her with solid career suggestions.

“My biggest career advice is to take pride in your work. Always be willing to go the extra mile and help anyone in need, even if it is "not your job." Hard work and dedication pay off. Do not do it for the money; do it for the love of the work that you do, the greater good, and helping those in need.”
