Learning how to stand up safely is important to prevent falls and strains on bones or muscles. Even if standing up is not difficult yet, follow and practice these 3 steps to make it easier for you incase it does.

If using these steps does not help, consult your physical therapist and ask them what you can change to suit you. What are other daily life activities you are finding difficult to do?

Our vestibular therapist, James, explains how he uses a laser pointer to assess and retrain head, neck, and eye coordination in patients with vestibular disorders. This tool is often used for conditions such as vertigo, dizziness, balance disorders, post-concussion symptoms, and inner ear dysfunction to help improve stability and reduce symptoms.

Burd Physical Therapy is a family-owned physical therapy clinic with a mission to provide compassionate and personalized care to individuals in the greater Rochester area. Chelsea Burdick, the owner and operator, is a Rochester native from Greece, NY. She attended Nazareth College and graduated with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Bachelor's degree in Health Science in 2014. Chelsea was a member of the Nazareth Women's Soccer team. Her athletic background is what sparked her interest in physical therapy.

Clinically, she shows a special interest in neurological rehab including Parkinson's disease, stroke and balance impairments, as well as orthopedic conditions and sports injuries. She is an avid sports lover (Go Bills!) and enjoys playing soccer and running for exercise. Chelsea and her family live in Irondequoit with their two beloved dogs. In her spare time, Chelsea enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially her son Re*****on and her husband Adam.

Adam & Chelsea Burdick are also the proud owners of Burd Home Health which is based out of Rochester, NY. Burd Home Health believes the best care will come from someone you know and trust. We help families throughout the U.S. take control of their care and hire a family member, friend or anyone they choose as a paid caregiver. This program is funded through Medicaid.
