We would like to congratulate Caroline Kirby, MD, MPH for completing her Golisano Children's Hospital Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship in June 2024. Caroline is staying on at UR Medicine with a joint faculty appointment in Developmental - Behavioral Pediatrics and General Pediatrics. The faculty and fellows sure had fun celebrating with her Congratulations Caroline!

This is a proud moment for all of us here at UR Medicine, we can't wait to see what the future brings to our local community and to the Nation.

OPWDD New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities Wants to Hear from You!

The statewide schedule for their 2024 Strategic Planning Forums were announced this week and Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities wants to assist you in giving them your feedback.

You can register, submit questions, and sign up for public comment. They want to hear from people with Developmental Disabilities, Families, Caregivers, Providers, Direct Support Professionals, Care Coordination Organizations, and anyone else who interacts with the OPWDD service delivery system.

Bedtime Yoga Class by Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities and taught by Kaylin McCarthy of Mindful Tradition Classes are on the following Sunday evenings: March 24th, and March 31st and are from 7:00pm to 8:00pm, are FREE, and take place virtually through Zoom.

This class focuses on movement, breathwork, and meditation. No previous yoga experience is necessary.

Join Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities as we discuss the impacts of mental health on children and youth with special health care needs. In this webinar families impacted by special health care needs will learn about strategies that can help manage challenging behaviors, behavior tracking, caregiver training, support services, and interventions for safety, stability, independence, and quality of life.

Spanish Language interpretation will be available. Availability of ASL interpretation will be determined based on need and available resources. Closed captioning will be available through Zoom.

There’s still time to enroll! We are hosting an A2A informational session via Zoom on Tuesday, March 19th at 5:30pm https://bit.ly/3PqU3fg

This month, we held an Open House for our 2nd cohort of Advance 2 Apprenticeship (A2A) at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY and our program got the stamp of approval from MVCC’s President, Randy VanWagoner.

Everyone in attendance enjoyed the experience & they are ready for our Basic Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship course starting April 8th. A2A offers pre-apprenticeship programming in manufacturing for people with and without disabilities who can benefit from additional support to succeed.
