“When we talk about our bodies, kids are listening…”
“Kids ages 5-8 are more likely to be dissatisfied with their bodies if they think their moms are unhappy with their own body size.”

Diet talk is normalized this time of year, but it's time to think about how it's impacting our kids.

It's normal to not feel jolly during the holidays. It's okay to feel your feelings and be gentle with yourself.

💤 Sleep is important for everyone, every age- and so are bedtime rituals! Bedtime can be hard sometimes; and for some of us, it may feel hard all the time.

Rituals and routines send quick signals to our brains letting us know what to do or expect next- so we want our bedtime activities to send the message that it’s time to rest 😴 AND we want to feel good about that!

It can be helpful to check in with yourself, *briefly* reflect on the day and your thoughts (because this is not the time to dissect every cringey or embarrassing moment in your life- that’s what therapy’s for 😉) and get your mind and body to a calm, safe space to sleep. Whatever you do before bed, try to make it something you can look forward to 🧘 📖 ✍️ 🛁 🛌

😳 Yesterday I discovered that my voicemail greeting was deleted - for who knows how long! No one wants to leave a detailed message about therapy on an unidentified voicemail box🙅🏻‍♀️📵
Most, if not all, therapists’ voicemail greetings include contact info for crises and emergencies, so I take this technical blip very seriously. My apologies to anyone whose calls I’ve missed, who may have wanted to connect about therapy and didn’t know if they had the right number. I’m currently accepting new clients and specialize in working with teens and families living with stress, conflict, depression, anxiety, and ADHD. Please give me a call at 585-371-5959 or email me at [email protected] to talk more and schedule an appointment.

Please also check out crisis / emergency contact information for Monroe County:https://www.monroecounty.gov/files/mh/MC-CrisisServices.pdf

If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis and looking for an alternative to 911 services, please call 211.

For a life-threatening medical emergency, please contact 911.
