1) Our Open Access Clinic is hiring a full-time Peer Advocate (second shift) who will use their experiential knowledge with substance use to support the recovery goals of individuals who walk into our clinic.

2) Our Prevention Team is hiring a Counselor-Educator (full-time) to work in our school-based program at Clyde-Savannah School District in Wayne County, NY.

Clarissa Uprooted Exhibit: Revival Grand Re-Opening on view through December 2024 at the Rochester Public Library! Experience inter-generational stories of the changing landscape of Rochester’s Clarissa Street through visual and interactive media.

Clarissa Uprooted’s goal is to inspire and empower young people and adults in the Greater Rochester community to look to the past to understand our present so that we can identify actions that will help heal our future. This Sankofa experience (“go back and fetch it”) has been created by elders who lived through the uprooting of the Clarissa Street community and Teen Empowerment Youth History Ambassadors who are living with the consequences today.

Open through December 2024.

Explore Black history and culture from the Genesee Valley Region and the Greater Rochester area at the 19th-century Historic (Genesee Country Village & Museum)! The Village is presenting a new Black History Weekend this Saturday, Feb 10th and Sunday, Feb 11th.

From 11am to 3pm enjoy programming throughout the Village and Nature Center. Explore the stories of Black Rochesterians and learn about food traditions via reenactments by the North Star Players Theatre Group. A new grant is facilitating GCV&M to dive into the history of enslavement in New York State.

Huge kudos to our school-based Prevention Counselors, Molly and Kathy, who work at Gates Chili Central School District in the middle and high schools. They recently put together the "Hidden in Plain Sight" event for parents and guardians of students in the district. This hands-on experience helps adults find clues that their children may be using alcohol and drugs. As our counselors explained on 13WHAM-TV the overarching message of the event is to start a dialogue that will get adolescents and families the help and support they need. Delphi Rise’s Need to Know - this week is about “Telegram”, a messaging app. Telegram seems harmless at a glance. It is used for instant messages and video chats, but in fact is widely used by drug dealers to sell a variety of illegal products. It is popular with young people because it makes anonymity easy and allows for delivery of substances right to someone’s location in a secretive manner. Your child might be using it without your knowledge. This infographic shows what you need to know.
