“This time of year, our pantry shelves move fast. A parent comes in for food and quietly asks if we have diapers too. Another asks if we have something easy to make — she’s staying in a motel with no kitchen.

These moments are small, but they’re everything. They remind us that hunger doesn’t stop when the holidays begin — and that stability starts with something as simple as a meal.

At Delphi Rise, our pantry program helps more than 400 families a year find a little breathing room. This season, we’re making sure those shelves stay full.

🍎 Food Fuels Recovery. SNAP benefits often don’t stretch far enough — especially for families rebuilding their lives after crisis. Our pantry helps fill that gap by providing food, hygiene supplies, and grocery support to those on the path to recovery.
💚 $10: Provides breakfast basics for one client for an entire week.
💚 $20: Gives a Rochester Public Market voucher for fresh, local food for their families.
💚 $50: Supplies essential hygiene items for up to 20 clients.
💚 $100: Fills an entire pantry box with enough food to support a family for a week.

🥯 Wrapping Up Red Ribbon Week with a Special Treat! 🥯
Prevention Counselor Lauren Hedeen from the Monroe 2 BOCES Recovery High Program and Mike Hoffman, our Pantry & Peer Support Program Coordinator, teamed up to make the final day of Red Ribbon Week extra special!
Mike and the Pantry provided delicious bagels for all, while Lauren organized customized breakfast orders so every student started their day with a smile — and a full stomach. 💪❤️
A huge thank you to Lauren, Mike, and the BOCES staff for spreading positivity, connection, and care to close out Red Ribbon Week!

🎧 Red Ribbon Week Spotlight! 🎧
Prevention Counselor Emmett Walsh partnered with Uplift Irondequoit to bring a week full of positivity and prevention to students!
💬 At lunch, students spun a wheel of healthy decision-making prompts and wrote uplifting messages to spread around the school.
🎓 In 8th grade health classes, they learned how to spot deceptive advertising in the cannabis industry and make informed choices.
🎶 The day’s theme? “Tune Out Drugs and Negativity” — students showed their spirit by rocking their favorite band and music shirts!

✨ Red Ribbon Week at Bay Trail Middle School ✨
This week, our Prevention Team joined students at Bay Trail Middle School in Penfield to celebrate Red Ribbon Week — the nation’s largest and longest-running drug-use prevention campaign.

Students proudly signed the drug-free pledge, learned about making healthy choices, and even got to meet some very special guests from RocDog Therapy 🐾

Led by our incredible Prevention Counselor, Sara Markovitz, the activities helped empower students to support one another and commit to a drug-free future.

We are thrilled to welcome Justin, Sergeant in charge of Recruitment & Retention with the Rochester Police Department, to our Board of Directors.
Justin brings more than 15 years of executive-level leadership across government, nonprofit, and private sectors. He is highly experienced in governance, community engagement, and strategic development, with a proven record of success in recruitment, outreach, and organizational growth.
A passionate advocate for strengthening relationships between law enforcement and marginalized communities, Justin is dedicated to fostering trust, understanding, and collaboration. He holds a Master’s in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego and is a devoted husband and proud father of two.

Bethanne joins us as Vice President of Corporate Compliance at Starbridge. She has over 20 years of experience partnering with people with disabilities and their circles of support. Bethanne has a strong commitment to engaging in collaborative efforts in order to evaluate systems and processes, and to develop initiatives that seek to achieve high standards of quality and compliance, and she is thrilled to bring her passion and knowledge to Delphi Rise’s Board of Directors.

It’s an honor to introduce Matthew Zager as a new Delphi Rise Board Member!

Matt Zager is the Director of Advancement at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. He brings nearly a decade of experience working in fundraising, having also worked at the MCC Foundation, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and Roberts Wesleyan University.

Matt also serves as the Rochester Young Professionals (RYP) Board Co-Chair, the Association of Fundraising Professionals Genesee Valley (AFPGV) Chapter Scholarship Chair and is a proud graduate of the United Way of Greater Rochester and the Fingers Lakes Emerging Leaders Development Program (2023) and Leadership Rochester Signature Program (2025). He is thrilled to join the Delphi Rise Board and help to support an organization that is vital to the Greater Rochester community!

We’re thrilled to welcome Karla Weidman as a new member of our Board of Directors!

Karla Weidman, LCAT, CASAC, PMH-C is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor, Perinatal Mental Health-Certified clinician, and small business owner. She specializes in creative, evidence-based approaches to mental health, trauma recovery, and perinatal wellness.

With a background in counseling, teaching, fundraising, and program management, Karla brings expertise in leadership, business development, and community outreach. She joined the Delphi Rise board to support innovative, compassionate services that strengthen individuals and families in recovery and beyond.

Debbie has envisioned and overseen organizational marketing transformations that drive meaningful increases in revenue, profits, and retention for marquee brands in insurance and health services, including American Family, Allstate, Cigna, and Excellus Bluecross Blueshield, where she serves as Vice President, Digital Strategy, Experience, and Delivery.

As the wife of a psychologist and an employee of a health payer, she understands the importance of whole-person health and health equity. She hopes to bring her marketing/fundraising and strategic planning experience to the board.

Debbie earned her MBA from Kellogg, Northwestern University’s Graduate School of Business, and is a member of the Marketing Committee for Rochester Education Foundation, and tutored for the Help Me Read Program. She’s a proud mother of three children.
