East House was represented at the Association for Community Living Legislative Day this week, with Abby Brown, Director of Supportive Housing and Jamie Comenale, Chief Program Officer in attendance! The day of advocacy was spent meeting with legislative leaders' offices including Sarah Clark, Samra Brouk, Demond Meeks, Jeremy Cooney, and Harry Bronson. The goal: advocacy for ongoing cost-of-living increases (2.7% was the targeted Inflationary Increase) to support OMH providers across New York State.

Are you a compassionate, supportive leader with experience in residential care? East House is seeking an Assistant Program Manager to help foster an inclusive, collaborative, and recovery-focused residential environment.

This role supports staff performance by setting clear expectations and tracking progress toward client goals. Responsibilities include facilitating client case reviews, helping manage the therapeutic community and facility operations, maintaining a caseload, and supporting overall program success.

Education/Experience: Associates’ Degree in human services with three years’ paid experience in a human services related field, or a Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree in human services or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Description: $20.15-$25.15 hourly

As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we’re proud to spotlight the incredible staff who make East House such a special place.

Meet Paola!

Paola serves as a counselor in East House’s Mental Health Apartment Program, where no two days are ever the same. From supporting clients one-on-one and writing progress notes to participating in case reviews, her work requires focus, compassion, and resilience. She carefully balances empathy with accountability, meeting clients where they are while encouraging growth and independence.

The work can be demanding, but it’s also deeply meaningful. Along the way, Paola has discovered something powerful about herself: she’s stronger than she ever realized. Through her role, she’s built the confidence to set healthy boundaries, provide thoughtful guidance, and celebrate every small victory alongside her clients.

Her dedication reflects the heart of East House’s mission, empowering individuals to take steps forward, one day at a time.
