Our Down syndrome Achievement Centers provide programming and support to people with Down syndrome and their families.

GiGi's Playhouse of Rochester is one of the nationwide network of Down syndrome achievement centers; changing lives through free, results -driven programs for individuals of all ages, families and communities. Our mission is to change the way the world views Downs syndrome and to send a global message of acceptance to all.

Our GiGi U girls have been busy interviewing again this week! 🎤✨ And each week we are seeing them grow more and more confident.

Yesterday, the group interviewed Emily from SAGE Rochester LLC Special Education Consulting & Services, where they learned all about her job, what a typical day looks like, and even some of the things she enjoys doing for fun outside of work. At the end of the interview, we even got to meet her daughter who joined us for a picture with the group! 📸

Today they interviewed one of our wonderful volunteers, Tom, who first started coming to GiGi’s with his grandson Cam. The girls not only asked the questions they had prepared, but also came up with their own follow-up questions and kept the conversation going like true interviewers!

We are so proud of the progress they are making in their communication, confidence, and conversation skills. Watching them grow each week is so special, and we can’t wait to see who they interview next! 💙💛

To start the celebration, our Youth Board is hosting an Ice Cream Social on Monday, March 16 from 5:00–6:30 PM! 🍦

Come socialize, enjoy a sweet treat, and meet some of our amazing Youth Board members. It’s the perfect opportunity to connect with our community as we begin a full week of celebrating inclusion, acceptance, and the incredible individuals in our GiGi’s family.

We had a blast at the Festival of Inclusion today! 💙💛

This is an event we love attending every year, and it’s always so special to connect with so many amazing people and organizations in our community who are passionate about inclusion.

A huge shoutout to two of our GiGi U participants, Christeen and Teresa, for joining us and helping share all about GiGi’s Playhouse Rochester with everyone who stopped by our table. You both did an incredible job representing the Playhouse! 👏

We’re so grateful to be part of such an inclusive community.

Our GiGi U crew at GiGi’s Playhouse Rochester is back to interviewing! 💙

After a few weeks of preparing, brainstorming questions, and lining up interviews for the month of March, these amazing young women have been hard at work getting ready. As part of their preparation, they practiced their interviewing skills with a practice interview with our Executive Director, Donna.

This week they had their first official interview with Marcus from the Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation. This foundation has supported GiGi’s Playhouse Rochester in the past, so it was extra special to have Marcus join the conversation.

The girls did a fantastic job speaking clearly, asking thoughtful questions, and leading the discussion. They learned all about Marcus’s life, career, and the things that inspire him. It was a great conversation and a wonderful learning experience for everyone involved!

A big thank you to Marcus for taking the time to speak with our GiGi U participants and share his story with them. We are so grateful for your support!

✨ Friendship, connection, and meaningful conversations filled our Playhouse this week during our Monday and Tuesday Fantastic Friends AM groups!

We love watching the friendships and connections continue to grow as participants spend time together sharing gratitude and reflecting through journaling. These moments create space for everyone to express themselves, build confidence, and support one another.

Our Monday group was joined by Laurie Brooks for a relaxing and energizing yoga session, while our Tuesday group focused on mental health, talking about ways to manage stress and take care of our minds and bodies.
The morning wrapped up with yoga and, of course, a fun dance party to celebrate time spent together!

We love creating opportunities to discuss important topics and seeing our adults thrive as they share their thoughts, support their peers, and grow together. 💙

Big energy and even bigger smiles at this weekend’s GiGiFIT Adult program at GiGi’s Playhouse Rochester! 💪

Led by one of our incredible key volunteers, Josh, our adults showed up ready to move, encourage one another, and celebrate every win. From warm-ups to strength and balance activities, the room was full of motivation, teamwork, and fun.

GiGiFIT is our purposeful fitness program designed to improve strength, balance, coordination, endurance, and confidence for individuals with Down syndrome. Every session is adapted to meet participants where they are and help them build healthy habits for life, all while having a great time together.

We’re so proud of this crew and grateful for volunteers like Josh who make programs like this possible! 💛
