Sometimes wellness is about the tiniest pause. Take these 10 seconds — the length of this video — just to breathe, reset and remind yourself that you deserve calm moments, too.

This , try building little pauses like this into your day. They add up! 💙

How do you give your mind a break?

For National Intern Day, we’re celebrating the incredible impact our interns have — and how much we value them.

(Here’s a hint: we often want to keep them around! One great example is our CEO, Sara Passamonte, who began her journey with Compeer as an intern 20 years ago. We're proud that the feeling is mutual — many of our interns choose to stay connected long after their internships end.)

According to our director of programs, Tracy LoTemple, Compeer’s internships "are more than a learning opportunity: they're a critical part of sustaining the human services field. By mentoring future professionals, we strengthen our mission, expand our impact and our commitment to the community.”

From Intern to Employee: Hear directly from former intern Denver Kelly:

“[My internship with Compeer] involved working in the office to learn how organizations work from a management perspective. Even though my goal is to work directly with youth, the experience with how organizations are run has been very helpful.[…]

I was hired immediately after the internship ended, another great benefit. I began doing program support for the youth volunteer program. I helped with organizing events and doing outreach, not only to potential vendors but also to parents and providers of youth in the program. This led to my other new position. I was recommended by my supervisors, and became a youth peer advocate, working directly with youth clients.

The internship has led to many new opportunities, all of which have been great learning experiences.”

Denver recently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Nazareth University, and is beginning work on her Master's in Social Work.

According to a recent study, people with PTSD who felt understood and supported reported significantly fewer symptoms over time — no matter how long ago their trauma occurred.

This is powerful proof that connection still matters.
Even if it’s been years. Even if it feels hard.
A text. A check-in. A moment of being truly heard — can help rewire the way our nervous system holds onto trauma.

Volunteer with Compeer to help someone find that support. https://www.compeerrochester.org/become-a-volunteer

For many LGBTQ+ people, our chosen family becomes our lifeline. Because when love and safety aren't found at home, we build new safe spaces, one friendship at a time.

Pride is about showing up and checking in on those you love, especially those who sometimes feel unseen. All year ‘round, but especially this June, reach out. Be a safe place. Be a friend.
