We are excited to announce the return of Daniel Savage, MD, PhD to Flaum as he joins our cornea team. Dr. Savage completed his residency with us and is also one of the few cornea specialists in the world who also has a PhD in optics.

Dr. Savage specializes in vision correction, refractive lens exchange, and refractive cataract surgery. He also treats infectious, inflammatory, degenerative and other cornea conditions. A Webster native, Dr. Savage earned his medical degree and PhD at the University of Rochester.

Dr. Savage is committed to compassionate care and is eager to help those in the community that means so much to him. Welcome home Dr. Savage, we are so happy to have you!

FEI scientists, Matthew Cavanaugh, PhD, and Sara Patterson, PhD, were part of a select group who got to present their work on Capitol Hill. Their visit is part of a program that introduces emerging vision scientists to Congress. September is designated as Healthy Aging Month by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Remember that doing the simple things can make a big difference for your eyes. Eating a well balanced diet, limiting screen time when possible, and wearing sunglasses to protect from the uv rays can all help the health of your eyes!

We'd like to welcome Hiral Patel, O.D., to the Flaum faculty team. She received both a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences and a Doctor of Optometry degree from Midwestern University. Dr. Patal will be seeing patients at our College Town and Geneseo locations. She recently completed her optometry residency with us, and we are so excited she is joining our faculty!
