🍂 As the Seasons Change, So Should Your Self-Care 🍁

Campus life doesn’t slow down just because the weather does. As we shift into shorter days and cooler temps (hello, Daylight Savings 👋), your mind and body feel those changes more than you think.

Here are a few gentle reminders to support your mental and physical health right now:

✨ Get natural light early in the day.
With the sun setting earlier, morning light becomes your best friend for energy, mood, and sleep regulation.

✨ Keep a steady sleep routine.
Daylight Savings can throw off your internal clock. Try to keep wake-up and bedtime consistent—even on weekends.

✨ Move your body daily (in ways that feel good).
A brisk walk across campus, stretching between classes, or a quick gym session can boost focus and reduce stress.

✨ Stay connected.
Season changes can feel isolating. Check in with friends, join a club meeting, or simply study together.

✨ Nourish yourself.
Warm, balanced meals, hydration, and vitamins matter more than ever as the weather cools.

✨ Ask for help if you need it.
Health & Counseling Services are here for you. You don’t have to navigate stress, low mood, or overwhelm alone.

You’re doing your best—and that is enough.
Take care of yourself this season. 🍂💛

Many counterfeit pills (like ones that look like Xanax, Adderall, or Percocet) are made with fentanyl, a powerful opioid that can be deadly in even tiny amounts.

👉 Here’s how to stay safe:

Never take a pill that wasn’t prescribed to you or bought from a licensed pharmacy.

Don’t trust what you see online or from friends — fake pills can look identical to real ones.

Know the signs of overdose: slow breathing, unresponsiveness, blue lips or fingertips.

Carry naloxone (Narcan) if you can — it can save a life.

Look out for your friends. If something feels off, don’t hesitate to call for help.

Your life is worth more than the risk of one pill. 💛

💛 Be the difference that saves a life.

Just like CPR helps you save someone in a medical emergency, QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) gives you the skills to help someone in a mental health crisis. 💬

Learn how to recognize the warning signs of su***de, start a caring conversation, and connect someone to help. 🌱

📅 Get trained in QPR — it’s quick, impactful, and could help you save a life.

Today is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day! 💊

Reducing the amount of unused or unwanted prescription drugs in your possession helps reduce the risk of intentional or accidental overdose.

❓Why can’t I just flush old meds or throw them in the garbage?

🌎 Throwing away or flushing unwanted meds contaminates the water supply and harms wildlife!

Many pharmacies and police departments offer year round options to dispose of medications.

Visit AWARErx.org to search for the closest disposal location!

What is a natural high?
• Any activity not involving drugs or alcohol that creates the release of dopamine (the “feel good” chemical in our bodies)

Activities that will help produce this effect:
• exercise 🏃‍♀️
• meditation 🧘🏾‍♀️
• being in nature 🌳
• connecting with others 👯
• laughter 😆

🛑Today kicks off Red Ribbon Week, running from Oct 23 - 31. A week highlighting the dangers of drug use and finding healthy alternatives.

Red Ribbon Week was first recognized in 1988 to honor Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, a DEA agent stationed in Mexico. He was extremely close to exposing a multi-billion dollar drug pipeline and was kidnapped and killed as a result.

In honor of his memory and his work dedicated to illegal drug trafficking, friends and family began wearing red satin badges - ultimately leading to the creation of Red Ribbon Week.
