FDA has added another cinnamon product to the list of products recalled due to the presence of elevated levels of lead. Consumers should discontinue use of recalled products immediately.

Find recalled products:

The FDA is advising consumers to throw away and not to buy the ground cinnamon products because samples of products listed in the table were found to contain elevated levels of lead.

Sprout Organics has initiated a voluntary recall of one lot of Sprout Organics® Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach because it may contain elevated levels of lead.

The product, a 3.5-ounce pouch, was sold in Walgreens and some independent stores in the US South region with most sales occurring between September and December 2024. The product was not sold in any other large grocery chain besides Walgreens.

Having a baby soon? Here are some quick tips to keep in mind when it’s time for newborn screening.

☎️Give accurate contact information to the hospital and your health care provider.
❓Ask your health care provider about the screening process and what to expect.
📲Once screening is completed, follow-up with your baby’s doctor about the results.
🧑‍⚕️Attend all follow-up appointments recommend by your baby’s doctor.
📅If more testing is needed, schedule as soon as possible. Don’t wait.

Illinois has reported its first West Nile virus–related death of the year, confirmed in suburban Cook County. 🦟

West Nile virus is spread through mosquito bites, and while most people experience no or mild symptoms, it can cause severe illness, especially in older adults.
