Retinol is a powerhouse in the skincare world—praised for smoothing fine lines, clearing acne, and improving skin tone. But if you’re breastfeeding, you might be wondering: Is retinol safe for me and my baby? Check out this great info from InfantRisk Center to learn more!

Retinoids are a group of compounds derived from vitamin A. They work by promoting cell turnover, reducing inflammation, and clearing clogged pores. Our big question: is it safe to use retinol while breastfeeding?

This is just one in a multi-part series this summer featuring research on vanity treatments during breastfeeding. 👀Read our article here: https://www.infantrisk.com/content/retinoid-skincare-and-nursing-what-new-moms-should-know

Highlights from our article:
🧖‍♀️Cosmetic retinols are unlikely to affect human milk or a breastfed infant. They are not regulated like drugs, so the content of the products themselves are always somewhat questionable.
🧴Topical retinoids, whether OTC or prescription, are generally considered safe to use while breastfeeding, as they are applied to the skin and absorbed in very small amounts.
💊Oral retinoids are NOT recommended during breastfeeding.

🍪 Why Lactation Cookies Don’t Work the Way You Think...

Before you eat your 12th cookie hoping for a milk miracle… let’s talk about it!

Lactation cookies might support your supply if:
✨ You’re under-eating overall or calorie deficient
✨ You’re low on key nutrients
✨ You love oats and brewer’s yeast (and your body responds well to them)

But here’s the truth:
➡️ No cookie can replace effective milk removal
➡️ No cookie can fix a latch issue
➡️ No cookie can treat underlying hormonal or metabolic concerns

Treat them as a snack—not a strategy.

Want real supply support? You need a plan based on your unique body, baby, and feeding goals. 💡

❤️ Craving help that goes beyond cookies? That’s where I come in! We’ll work together to find the root cause of your supply challenges and get a real plan that works!
