Ticks are active in wooded, grassy, and brushy areas, and can transmit serious illnesses such as Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
-Protect yourself and your family by following these precautions:
-Avoid walking through tall grass, brush, or wooded areas when possible.
-Wear long sleeves and pants; tuck pants into socks or boots for added protection.
-Use EPA-registered insect repellents that are effective against ticks.
-After outdoor activities, conduct full-body tick checks on yourself, children, and pets.
-Shower within two hours of coming indoors to help remove ticks before they attach.
If you find a tick, remove it promptly using fine-tipped tweezers, pulling straight out without twisting. Clean the area thoroughly with soap and water or antiseptic.
Early detection and removal are key to preventing tick-borne illnesses. Stay aware and stay protected.
