This dress presented a formidable challenge. I must emphasize that it was no easy task. Due to its beaded design, I had to hand-sew everything. The dress required taking in by 1/4” on each side, and I had only four days to complete this. Some of my friends watched me hand sew by the pool while the boys swam during lessons. Coworkers saw me working on the dress in between tasks after completing my other responsibilities. A large portion of the original beading stitching crossed over the original seam, necessitating that I re-stitch the beading before removing the seam to prevent the beads from falling out. Despite the challenge, I gave my best effort and gained valuable experience. Although it was a demanding project, the end result was well worth it, as the young lady for whom it was intended was delighted with her prom dress.

Now this is a dress I won’t soon forget! It started simple, just need to be hemmed a little bit and have it taken in a little bit and decided to take it in by the zipper. Made it about an 1/4th of an inch to tight on top by accident 😬 so we had two options. Let it out as much as possible with what excess fabric was there or option two. Turn the top into a lace up back. The young lady chose option two and was absolutely in love with the way it looked. I’m so very thankful she let me fix my mistake and it turned out to be something she loved. I hope everyone had a fun night!

This young man definitely wanted to look his best for his lovely date, and I think he nailed it. I helped him make sure that his vest and shirt with fit to his liking by taking it in a little bit. The sleeves of his shirt and on the sides, as well as shortening the strap on the back of his vest a little bit.

Hey everyone! I know it’s been a bit since I posted but it’s been a very busy couple of weeks. Tonight, I want to talk about this dress and the beautiful young lady I had the pleasure to work with.

This young lady approached me in either December or January, I can’t quite remember, with a vision to redo the sleeves for her dress. I stupidly forgot to get a before picture with the sleeves 😬 but they were slide ons, puffy, and not attached to the dress.

She wanted sleeves that were attached to the dress. I do my absolute best to use any material that comes with the original dress, whether it’s scrunchies, bow ties, hair clips, or in this case adding sleeves to a strapless gown.

We played around with some ideas, and in one of them I took the lace from the original sleeves to attach long sleeves to the dress. When I sent pictures, she loved the straps but decided she wanted shorter more flowy sleeves. When she told me this, I immediately thought of my mom’s dress and sent the young lady some inspiration pictures that were similar to the sleeves on my mom’s wedding dress and she loved it.

When she came for her final fitting we worked for a few hours to get the sleeves just right in length and flowyness and everything else she imagined. Needless to say, this bride was absolutely beautiful. I had so much fun working with her and helping her bring her vision to life.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood! Thank you for letting me help you in my own small way make your day everything you wanted it to be.

Wow! It has been a busy couple of weeks! I’m so so thankful to each and everyone of you for sharing, for tagging me in ISO seamstress posts, for using my services……I’m so thankful and overwhelmed with joy. Seeing all of that makes me want to continue with what I love, which is sewing and helping people feel good in what they wear.
Lots of hemming and taking things in on the side. Just a handful of patches this round 😋

The first picture is before the second is after. This mommy's super power? Sewing. Which means restoring beloved stuffies to their previous state when they lose something important, like an eye.
