✨ Let’s talk pregnancy massage positioning… because it matters more than you think. ✨
I’ve been seeing more of these pregnancy bolsters lately (the ones with the belly cut-out), and I want to gently educate on why I don’t use them in my practice at Orenda Massage & Wellness.
While they may look supportive, the truth is… they can actually create pressure on the abdomen and restrict circulation—including blood flow to baby. Even if it feels “comfortable” at first, your body is doing a lot during pregnancy, and circulation is everything.
💛 Side-lying positioning is the safest and most beneficial option.
When you’re lying on your side:
• There is no direct pressure on the belly
• Blood flow stays open and supported
• Your body can fully relax into the work
• We can properly support hips, low back, and nervous system
And honestly… as a Massage Therapist it allows me to hold a much more intentional, nurturing space for you and baby.
