Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is a water soluble vitamin with many functions in the body.
Fun fact: 💡 did you know strawberries and bell peppers contain more vitamin C than oranges? Oranges are associated with Vitamin C because it was one of the first documented studies.
VITAMIN C IS ESSENTIAL FOR:
[ ] Building block in producing collagen: a protein used to build skin, ligaments, cartilage, tendons, and blood vessels
[ ] Assists in the absorption of iron.
[ ] It is an antioxidant, reducing free radicals (oxidative stress), therefore reducing damage to our DNA, reducing premature aging, and slowing development of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease or cancer.
— Free radicals occur with illness, inflammation, chronic stress, cancer, and sometimes exercise.
[ ] Vitamin C may lower blood pressure.
[ ] Vitamin C may lower uric acid levels in gout patients
