Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County CEO Irene Richardson has announced her retirement effective Friday, April 10, 2026.
The MHSC Board of Trustees voted unanimously on April 14, 2026, to accept the retirement.
“Irene has been an important part of growing and strengthening Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. The Board is grateful for the passion and countless hours that Irene has dedicated to improving the Hospital and making it a better place for patients, employees, and the people of Sweetwater County,” according to the MHSC Board of Trustees.
Richardson’s MHSC career spans more than four decades. She began working at MHSC in 1985 in the Fiscal Services Department. In 2007, she was promoted to Director of Materials Management. She then served as the Controller (finance director) for two years before moving in 2010 to the CFO position, which oversees Fiscal Services, Patient Financial Services, Materials Management, Information Services and Health Information Management. In October 2017, Richardson accepted the position of CEO.
The Board will move forward with the process of selecting a new CEO. Until that time, MHSC Chief Clinical Officer Kari Quickenden has been named Interim CEO.
“Hospital operations will continue as normal. We are focused on the future and remain committed to being our community’s trusted healthcare leader,” Quickenden said.
Quickenden started her career at MHSC in 2001 as a contracted staff pharmacist. In 2009, she was hired as Director of Pharmacy. In 2015, she moved into the Chief Clinical Officer position. She’s a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and a Master of Science in Health Services Administration.
