24 adolescents / day will succumb to Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Take advantage of the FREE screenings being offered by Deborah Heart and Lung Center right here in our area. registration is limited to the first 300 students.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest in young athletes is most often secondary to structural and electrical causes. Screenings and evaluations will be conducted at NO COST to detect potential cardiac conditions that could lead to a sudden cardiac arrest in adolescents.
This screening and evaluation will be open to approximately 300 children in our community ages 12-19.
Evaluations will be conducted by Deborah's Board Certified Cardiologists, Advanced Practice Nurses, Certified Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, and EKG and Echocardiography Technicians. The screening will consist of height, weight, blood pressure, BMI (body mass index), heart auscultation (listening for heart murmurs), ECG (electrocardiogram), and if clinically indicated, an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart). Deborah clinicians will review and evaluate all information and make any necessary recommendations.
Registration Starts March 21st and will close after the first 300 registrants, on a first come, first served basis.
