Recently I completed a certification for hot and cold stone therapies, and I now offer them in my practice. If you are interested in hot or cold (or both) therapies feel free to send me a message about it. It is an excellent way to enhance the massage experience and provide exceptional relaxation.
I offer hot and cold stone therapy at my usual rate, plus a $20 cleaning fee for each hour. If you are interested in details, feel free to send me a message.

One time deal for all customers!
Shorter Version
After your first massage you can book a second massage, one week later, and you will receive an additional free 30 minutes for that massage. You can use that to try a longer Swedish massage or sample a modality and see if it is for you. This can include Myofascial Release (MFR), or hot stone therapy. There is an additional $20 per hour charge for hot stone therapy. I offer this for two reasons. First, having two massages two weeks apart will show you how great it is to have regular massages, even if you choose not to sign up for my weekly or bi-weekly plan. Two different evaluations a week apart will really show you how much massage therapy can benefit your life and your wellness. Secondly, it gives you an opportunity to see what other options there are. I offer different modalities as well as more thorough and in-depth Swedish massage, which we can apply to problem areas or just somewhere you would like extra care.
If you are interested in massage therapy, you can sign up for my services here.
“If we do not make time for our wellness, we will be forced to make time for our sickness.” – Joyce Sunada
Massage therapy is fantastic for your wellness. However, a lot of people have not tried regular therapy. My hope is that this deal will help a client who wants to see what regular therapy can offer.
After your first massage, you feel great. For a few hours after your massage the body enters a recovery phase and it’s a satisfying feeling everyone loves. You will feel all that extra energy coming into your regular routine and how much more output you have. People love it so much they end up using all that energy to get things done and that feels great too. The thing is, that once all that good energy runs out, you are left with all the tiredness and soreness of all that work you did. The good news is that I am going to help you avoid that, and make sure you get all the benefits from your massage so they will last you all week.
The deal I am offering is for your second massage. If you have a second massage a week after your first, I’m going to offer you a half hour of time for free. This means if you pay for a 60-minute massage you will get a 90-minute massage instead. Not only will this give you a chance to see how much more deep tissue and detail work you can have done in a 90-minute massage, but you can have a chance to add an integration into your therapy. I’m currently offering hot and cold stone therapies, and Myofascial Release Integration. If there is a kind of massage you are interested in, feel free to ask. I know a lot about massage and if I am unable to do it, I know several other exceptional massage therapists and I might be able to refer you to one.
Because every body is different, every massage is different. So, it’s difficult to describe exactly how I could use the extra time for a Swedish Massage. While there is a typical routine that I generally do, that regular routine allows for flexibility in what specifically can be done. Certain people want more attention to certain areas that are sore or constantly stiff. Other times there is a certain condition like plantar fasciitis that could use a specific routine and regular therapy to address long term damage. If you have any questions about massage therapy and what it can do for you, feel free to send me a message here or at my business number. Thank you so much for reading and being concerned with your wellness.

Hi, my name is James, and I am a massage therapist working out of my home in Rockaway New Jersey. I am taking appointments if you are looking for therapeutic massage. I find massage to be a fantastic way to help a person understand what their body communicates to them.

Robert Anton Wilson once said, “Under the present brutal and primitive conditions on this planet, every person you meet should be regarded as one of the walking wounded.” I can’t think of a better way to describe the state of wellness today. Everyone is walking around with their share of burdens and trying their best to recover in time to take on their next challenge. There hardly ever seems to be time to be put aside for self-care and rejuvenation. Getting massage with a professional can be a way to find wellness for yourself in all the chaos of life.

Every person can learn about their body from their massage therapist. It's why I find it so fulfilling to be one. When you evaluate all the soreness and tension in a person's body and see all the work they do, it shows someone how strong their body is. Every client I work with has physical manifestations of their suffering and I have the privilege of being able to address those directly. Paired with the knowledge I try to pass on to my clients, the care I give creates a wonderful therapeutic experience.

If you have a specific issue or are just looking to see what massage therapy might be able to offer you, contact me to find out more. My business phone number is listed below. Don’t like to call? Who does? Send me a text message and I'll be happy to respond. I have also included my e-mail address where you are free to ask questions about wellness, massage, or the page.

I also offer chair massage. Chair massage is a great way to offer some of the best essentials of massage for multiple people. If you are an employer and wish to reward your employees or are part of a club that has multiple members who could benefit from massage therapy, contact me to set up a time.

Here is my business number, if you would prefer not to call text messages are just fine.

201-619-7112

Also here is my e-mail address, feel free to ask questions with no obligation to make an appointment.

Many people do not know that CPTSD, like PTSD, is a disorder that can be caused as a result of abuse. It is similar to PTSD and Borderline personality disorder. You do not have to have been through one specific traumatic incident to feel the chronic affects of CPTSD. It is speculated that it affects between 1% to 8%, meaning as many as 2 in 25 people are struggling with trauma that they may not even realize. Research is still lacking but its possible that Borderline Personality disorder and CPTSD might be the same disorder. Some even speculate that what we casually refer to as a personality disorder are really different presentations of CPTSD.

Complex PTSD is a mental health condition that can result from chronic trauma, such as prolonged child abuse.

Somatoemotional release (SER) is a practice that combines hands-on work and verbal skills as a way of releasing trauma. When the mind is traumatized it can present itself in the body physically through heightened chemicals that can cause physical distress. These issues can be addressed directly with touch, and indirectly through verbal assurances and dialogue.

There are methods of learning this system online. They are usually designed for healthcare professionals but the lessons they teach about the connection between body and mind are invaluable to someone interested in wellness.

Traumahealing.org is an international collaboration between therapists looking for answers to a world that is so beset with trauma. They have online training webinars that originate from all over the world, and appear in different languages.

Here is a link from the International Alliance of Healthcare Educators. They have online workshops on SER that describe them as a part of craniosacral therapy. Craniosacral therapy is a massage modality that uses gentle touch and movement that is good at dealing with regular pain in the head, neck, and back. This bridge between the mind and the body can lead a person to wellness if they have the right professional to help them.

Trauma doesn't just affect your mind — your body holds on to memories of trauma, too. Somatic therapy can help release them.

Are you interested in Wellness, or are you a wellness professional?

Welcome to Portal to Wellness. This is a page dedicated to supporting and educating both the public and professionals about wellness, trauma, and the practices that can help heal.

What are we?

Portal to Wellness is an informational page run by a massage therapist. Its purpose is to emphasize how common trauma can be, and offer possible, practical options to identify, cope, and heal. The journey towards wellness is one we all face, and too often must do so alone. Our hope is that by sharing knowledge of people who have suffered and survived trauma, we can guide those looking to get to a better, healthier place in life.

There are many exciting things about the world of wellness. Now, more than ever, massage therapy is seen as more than a luxury. It can be a way for people with deep emotional, mental, and physical traumas to find comfort and healing in ways they couldn’t otherwise. Traumas are much more common than we had previously understood and bodywork with an experienced professional can help.

In the last decade, there has been a large push of wellness professionals of all kinds towards facing trauma head on. Practices like Somatic Emotional Release can be learned and performed by a non-medical professional and have exceptional therapeutic qualities for a person who has suffered trauma.

That is not to say that bodywork is a replacement in any way for medical care. Bodywork professionals work together with healthcare professionals to create the best possible care for their clients/patients. Bodywork professionals are ethically obligated to recommend medical care when they think it is needed. One of the main purposes of Portal to Wellness is to define the differences between health and wellness.

Are you a professional?

We invite wellness professionals to post articles and information that they think would benefit the wellness community. These can be therapeutic practices, studies on health issues which could be benefitted by bodywork, or perspectives on either. Please include as much context for your post as possible, as well as any personal reflections you may have on the information.

At Portal to Wellness, we understand that traumas are common, and hope to foster a community that sheds light on these issues and lifts any stigmas attached to them. Coping with and healing traumas is a lifelong and generational process. At Portal to Wellness one of our main goals is to give as much information and insight as possible to help protect people from traumas, as well as help them as they struggle to heal what they have already endured.

We also invite massage therapists to post a profile about themselves, and the kind of work they do. We want to encourage people who might be uncomfortable seeking help to know what they can expect. We recommend posting a personal statement in addition to information on contacting you for an appointment. If you are seeking clients, please take some time and view our section on ethics before posting. If you are seeking clients on this page, you must know and understand the principles on this page and agree that you uphold them in your practice as best you can.

Our Therapists and Principles

Massage therapists will post their information on this page to present themselves to clients. These might be traveling massage therapists or ones who work out of an office, but all of them are aware of our principles and adhere to them in their practice. At Portal to Wellness therapists can present their method of practicing massage therapy, and clients nervous about seeking bodywork can see what they can expect from a professional. These principles serve not only to protect the well-being of our clients but also serve as methods of understanding them and offering better ways to wellness.

This is the code of ethics listed by the NCBTMB (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork) While different organizations sometimes phrase them differently, there is a well-established code of ethics for Massage and other bodywork professionals that best serves the wellbeing of therapists and clients alike.

https://www.ncbtmb.org/code-of-ethics/

Body autonomy – The client maintains total control over what happens to their body. Our profession requires that people let us into their safe spaces and understanding their boundaries as well as their needs is paramount. You never need to argue or defend your boundaries to your therapist.

Trauma – Trauma is commonplace in our world. It is common that people live their lives unaware of the damage they have sustained. Wellness professionals know the toll it takes on your mind and body. Facing one’s traumas is a difficult journey faced by everyone, and as a wellness professional we will support our clients so they can best face their journey. You never need to explain your struggles to get support.

Self-identity – Every person has a unique identity that is an expression of their self. No one else, especially a wellness professional, can tell someone their identity. We respect that right and so when one of our clients shares their identity with us, we accept it unconditionally. This includes gender, sexual orientation, race, belief system, or your personal history. You should feel safe to share who you are with someone who wants to help you find wellness.

There are many things which are inherently traumatic or often coincide with traumas. Our therapists are aware of these issues and often have personal as well as professional experience dealing with them. Often struggles with these issues can be aided through massage therapy.

Neurodivergence – Everyone is challenged to understand the way their own mind works. It can be a source of great mental peace as well as great mental stress to come to understand one’s own mind. The neurodivergent mind functions in a different way but is still natural.

Recovery – There are numerous recovery programs of various natures to help people cope with dependencies. They tend to be geared toward coping with addiction, deep emotional and mental trauma, or both. Recovery programs provide important help to people who need it and participating in one is a great step towards wellness. Your therapist will understand if you have additional boundaries or needs associated with recovery and will respect them without passing judgement.

We also understand some things that are just a part of being human. We believe every person has the right to wellness and recovery. No one needs to prove themselves worthy, you deserve the care you need as a human being. We will try our best to bring it to you and teach you to get it for yourself. Wellness is our best most natural state, so a professional will know they need only guide you towards your very best self. Everyone has a story that led them to this point in their lives. Every person is a collection of decisions and outcomes that make a unique person, and your therapist will respect that.

I hope these ideas help you in your journey to wellness. If there is anything we can do to make it more accessible to you, or you have anything to add, feel free to email us or comment on our posts.
