Artists Mentoring Group - AMG

Artists Mentoring Group - AMG Artists Mentoring Group is a nonprofit organization that empowers artists with disabilities. www.artistsmentoring group.org

The Artists Mentoring Group (AMG) was founded in July 2013 by Anne Marie Gotti-Roberts and Lorie Safin. Originally a part of Arts Unbound, Inc., the AMG Class branched out on its own as an intact group to foster the skills and abilities of students with a myriad of disabilities. Students receive art instruction, assistance on furthering their social skills and self-esteem, as well as business guidance for becoming artists by profession. They have forged friendships and help each other by building on their strengths and compensating for weaknesses. Throughout their participation in AMG, the artists’ work has been exhibited in many different places. Some of the exhibits included locations at John Hopkins University in Maryland; The World Folk Music Association Concert to benefit Madison House Autism Foundation (at the invitation of Madison House); and most recently at the Arts Play Day presented by the Thomas and Agnes Carvel Foundation, held at the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center (OSPAC). Former Governor Brendan Byrne was a guest at the Arts Play Date and was presented a portrait by an AMG Student.
