🍅 Fueling Friday with Tomato Facts! 🍅

Did you know this vibrant kitchen staple is botanically a FRUIT, not a vegetable? 🤯 Tomatoes develop from the flower and contain seeds, classifying them as fruit.

However, their nutrient profile packs a powerful punch that makes them a fantastic addition to a healthy diet! Tomatoes are rich in:

LYCOPENE: A potent antioxidant linked to various health benefits.
VITAMIN C: Essential for immune function and skin health.
POTASSIUM: Important for maintaining healthy blood pressure.
FIBER: Aids in digestion and promotes satiety.

Whether you’re adding them to salads, sauces, or enjoying them on their own, tomatoes offer a delicious and nutritious boost to your meals.

How do you incorporate these nutritional powerhouses into your diet? Share your favorite tomato-based recipes below! 👇

Choose your beverages wisely. Alcohol is high in calories. Liquors, sweet wines, and sweet mixed drinks contain 150-450 calories per glass. By contrast, water and diet sodas are calorie-free. If you choose to drink, select light wines and beers, and use non-alcoholic mixers such as water and diet soda. Limit your intake to 1 or 2 alcoholic drinks per occasion. And, watch out for calories in soda, fruit punch, and egg nog as well. Try mixing a carbonated water or a lemon-lime diet drink with wine to make a wine spritzer. Lastly, always have a bottle of water handy!

Make a plan. Think about where you will be, who you will be with, what foods will be available, what foods are really special to you (that you really want to eat) versus those that you could probably do without. What are your personal triggers to overeat and how can you minimize them?
