Meet Sandy of Independence Village of Rockford. Sandy was born and raised in Rockford, growing up alongside her brother. She is a proud graduate of East High School. In her younger years, Sandy loved staying active and social, enjoying ice skating, bowling, and dancing.
One memorable evening, Sandy and a friend went to the Game Hall, where she met her future husband, David, at a ping pong table. That chance meeting led to a beautiful life together, as Sandy and David shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. They built a loving family that includes one daughter, one son, two granddaughters, and one grandson.
Throughout their years together, Sandy and David enjoyed dancing, traveling, and fishing. Sandy was also a familiar and friendly face in the Rockford community through her work at one of the city’s favorite restaurants, The Hoffman House Scoreboard where she was employed for more than 30 years and served many well-known patrons.
Today, Sandy treasures time spent with her family, especially weekends at her daughter’s home, and she enjoys participating in the many activities offered at Independence Village of Rockford.
