Today we were honored to present Eric Pearson, SPTA, with the Kelsea Anderson Memorial Scholarship. Eric is a rising second-year student in the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Blackhawk Technical College, set to graduate in May 2026. He is the 8th recipient of this $2,000 scholarship.

Congratulations, Eric! We wish you continued success as you complete your program.

This scholarship was established in memory of Kelsea Anderson, a beloved OrthoIllinois physical therapist assistant who passed away in January 2018. It continues to honor her legacy by supporting PTA students at Blackhawk Tech — the very program from which Kelsea graduated.

Want to avoid common trail injuries like tendinitis, sprains, or even stress fractures? Here are a few key tips to keep you moving safely all summer long:

💪 Strength Train for Stronger Bones
Stress fractures are one of the top injuries that can cut your hiking season short. Adding weight training to your routine boosts bone density—helping your body handle the impact of rugged trails and heavy packs.

🧊 Prioritize Recovery
Overuse injuries like tendinitis often happen when we skip recovery. After each hike, take time to stretch and use ice as needed to reduce inflammation and keep muscles happy.

🦶 Train for Ankle Stability
The trail isn’t always predictable. Improve your balance and ankle mobility off the trail to help prevent painful sprains or falls when you're out in the wild.

🌭 While the original Alpine Kiwanis Brat Days - Rockford, IL event was unfortunately canceled due to severe storm damage last week, the mission to support our community is still going strong!

As proud sponsors, we’re excited to help spread the word about the Brat Days Food Sale happening Friday, July 18 & Saturday, July 19 from 11 AM – 6 PM at Blain’s Farm & Fleet on Riverside Blvd.

🔥 Stop by to grab delicious brats, hot dogs, veggie BBQ, chips, cookies, and more—all while supporting the meaningful work of the Alpine Kiwanis.
